Driving back from Colorado we come through Childress, Tx., and there is a line of thunderstorms ahead of us. We catch it right in Childress and everybody is on the side of the road or under business covers and what. My wife says pull over and I say hell no, this tornado is going have to catch me. Keep on trucking on 287 south and 18 wheelers are blown over as where several utility poles.

I have two stories that come to mind. A year or two ago I had to pick up some documents from a leasing office at a very sketchy Hispanic apartment complex off Gardere in BR. As I was waiting outside trying to call the office a weird looking white guy pulled up in an older Jeep grand caravan and started staring me down. Shortly after a banged up SUV with a black guy and a methhead looking white girl pulled up and the girl got out and got into the car with the guy in the Jeep and both cars were just sitting there. Now all three people were staring at me and there was not another person in sight. Not sure what was going down but I got the hell out of there.
My other story was in college when a friend of mine was house sitting for her aunt and a group of us went over after an LSU game to keep drinking and spend the night. When I went to take my shower at about 2 AM I got a really weird vibe in the bedroom and bathroom that I was being watched even though I was alone in that part of the house. Came to find out the next day from my friend that the house was haunted and the ghost would randomly open doors and and shite throughout the night lol.

At Allatoona Pass (you can Google the Civil War Battle) there are some lakes you can fish. Me and a friend were out there fishing. We started walking back to the car as the sun started going down. We had been to this place many times, never felt spooked before. We are in the blasted-out ravine that used to have train tracks in it, and was also the site of a bloody ambush (you can Google) and without being prompted by anything, any sound, etc, we both simultaneously stopped, looked at each, then started hauling arse with our rods and tackle boxes. We didn't stop until back at the car. The conversation was "WTF was that?" "I don't know, I just got spooked, no reason". "Same here".
This would have been in the late 90's before the government put up all the signage to mark it as a historical site with all the details of the battle. We had no idea at the time that civil war shite had gone down there. All we knew is it had some lakes that were public and a far enough walk that they didn't get much fishing pressure.

Would take forever to type the whole story, but driving from Michigan back to New Orleans at a Chuey’s in an Indiana suburb of Louisville - came within about a minute of being robbed at gunpoint or worse. Myself, my wife, daughter, and family dog all sitting in the outside dining area by ourselves. We knew what was coming and left our food on the table. Leaving the parking lot, I look back and the guy is eating our leftovers.

Back in the 90s, I was beyond naïve.
I was being a good Samaritan helping my neighbor with some BS story he gave me at the time. We drove around Youngstown stopping at different houses. He would go up to the door, talk to whomever, then come back to the car. I thought this was sketchy, but made he had his reasons. This was at least after 9pm at the time.
After enough stops he took me to the Northside projects. I didn't know where I was going, he just told me to " turn left here" ect...
When we parked and got out of the car, two dudes in Raiders jackets started to approach.
"yo, man yo"
My neighbor looked and me and said "run".
We ran to the apartment he was headed to and got inside. Normal house/family inside having dinner. He dealt with the mom, made his score and then started to smoke crack right next to me in the living room.
"He, thanks man. Ill score you a dime bag to make up for it..."
I didnt know what a dime bag was.
"OK, how do we get out of here?"
"I'll get an escort"
We got our escort, I took him home to his aparment. I went inside my place. And started to have serious shakes....
When I heard the "Yo man Yo: / "run" I realized I had made a terrible mistake.

I was in New York City last year and went to this bar down in the Hell's kitchen area. I was by myself as my family went to a show. I sat down at the bar I had an LSU pullover on and a Columbia hat. The bartender asked me if I was from around here and obviously I said no, that I was from louisiana. He just smiled and I noticed a few minutes later he had his phone and he sent a text to someone. No big deal right? About 40 minutes later this guy comes walking up to the bar from outside and he looked like wild Bill off of deadliest catch, anyway he had a lady with him and a very feminine looking man. For some reason we got to talking and he buys me a beer. The bartender grabbed the beer but turned around where I couldn't see him and opened it. I thought that was odd. Then the guy starts talking to me about how New York is the land of opportunity and you can pretty much get anything you want with enough money. At this point the lady kind of smiled at me and so does the feminine looking man. Now this guy puts his hand on my back and kind of just rubs my back and says anything you want. The bartender hands me the beer and I stood up and said no I'm good I just need to pay my tab. I paid and left. I thought it was very weird something wasn't right. I met a lot of New Yorkers and none where that friendly and they darn sure didn't rub on my back and buy me a beer. I have a feeling the bartender was trying to set me up.

Halloween Night in 1989 on Frenchtown Road
Got rear ended by a white van going about 20 mph (4 of us in car) just before the bridge.
Didn’t even get out of car, found a small turnaround spot and passed the guy just sitting in the van and staring at us.

Fishing an SKA tournament, typical GOM day. , rod tips started buzzing like bees for a few minutes.
We start to hit it but the grey is building all around, sky goes from partly sunny to thunderhead grey(dark) everywhere. Make a run to the lightest sky we can see. The rain starts pelting us as the wind picked up, lightning with booming thunder all around.
As we are pounding through the chop and weather my brother looks back where we were. About a half mile behind us a large tree trunk waterspout is spinning with 2 other stringy waterspouts on either side of it.
We hammer down for about 5 miles to a hole in the weather and check the gear.
If the rod tips ever start buzzing again, I’m getting up and going right then.

I’ve a pretty sordid past which included around 5 years of intense production of illegal narcotics.
I could tell stories for days.
One that sticks out is, being on the verge of sold out to a drug trafficking ring in Mexico. My current employer at the time was using me to get back in the good graces of them, but at the last minute things turned quickly in my favor.

I dropped acid at a Pantera show in 1996. Wrong environment to trip entirely. At one point I thought I was witnessing the apocalypse.

Went to Slick Willie’s family pool hall on Richmond Ave just outside of 610 in Houston many years on a Tuesday night with a buddy of mine from UH. 2 of his fraternity brothers met us there. There was a guy a few tables over playing pool with 2 pretty hot girls. The 7 of us and the bartender were the only people in the entire place. The guy was South American with a loose reddish brown curly head of hair. The 2 girls went to UH and knew my buddy and came over for 5 minutes with hugs and some laughs then went back to playing pool. Every time I glanced his way he was staring at us. Of course my buddy’s 2 fraternity members were drinking heavily. They were both like 5’6” with smart mouths and picked up on the stares eventually. They started making jokes and laughing loudly and looking at him.
I could sense things escalating. At first I thought the guy might have a gun. I told my buddy I didn’t come out on a Tuesday night to let 2 of his dumbass friends get us into some shite. I finally said why don’t we get out of here? I headed to the bathroom and when I came out the dude was on his phone. I knew something was really wrong and told my buddy we need to go now. This led to a 5 minute discussion and about that time the first 2 big dudes walked in the front door in sweats and just stood there. I went over to the bar and told bartender to call the police right fricking now.
Within the next 5 minutes about 8 more people poured in dressed however they received the call. That’s when the guy came over and starting saying some nasty shite about what was about to happen. Luckily police pulled in right then. We were about to take a brutal arse whipping. No doubt about it.
We got lucky because whoever that dude was he had all kinds of stroke on a Tuesday night. It happened fast and they came running.
That was fricking scary.

1957 Hurricane Audrey. The house we escaped to kept lifting off the blocks and as my father looked out the window I stood behind him. It was then I saw a cow, then another cow fly past the window. The barn gave way and took the cows with it. I’ll never forget the look of pure terror on my father’s face when he looked away from that window. It was then - he told us to get on our knees and pray. That huge house would shutter and lift off the blocks with every gust . I thought sure we were doomed. To this day when they say we’re in the path of a hurricane I leave and I leave now, and I get as far away from that hurricane as I can. No hurricane party for me - feet don’t fail me now

But, seriously, that's fricked up.

Heard about this scam of being robbed when stopping to helping a stranded motorist. Well, next very early morning , Leaving my neighborhood and Driving to the airport down the main boulevard. I see a Car broke down under the only lamp post with no light. 4 people flagging me down. I gunned it in the left lane and passed them. I called the police to go assist them.
