Betsy 1965. Blew down a bunch of trees in BR and blew away our camp in GI. The camps immediately on our left and right remained.

Frederic 1979. I was 7. We got hurricane force winds here in East Central MS. I remember going outside to throw the football into the wind, and my mother yelling at me to get my stupid arse inside. I also remember it blowing our TV antenna down, and Daddy being pissed. I believe it was on a Wednesday or Thursday, and he was pissed thinking we might not get it fixed in time for the Saints-Eagles game on Sunday. I remember him getting on the roof to fix it and yelling when he got it fixed.

Mine was Andrew, but I have no recollection of it. I was only almost 2. My mom was very pregnant with my brother (he is 9/16/92) and they had just finished the nursery. Right in the middle of the hurricane, I found a jar of Vasoline and put it all into my hair.

Without power and at my aunt’s house, my mom had to re-wash my hair numerous times to get it out.

Andrew was the first I remember. Opal was the one that screwed our property up.

Andrew here in Baton Rouge. Our family came up from New Orleans and it was worse here than there.

Camille, Bogalusa. I was six years old at the time. I can still hear the sound of the winds like it was yesterday.

When Ivan was heading to Pensacola, I told my wife we were bailing to Tallahassee to stay with family. I didn’t want our son who was six at the time to experience that.

In elementary school in Sherwood Forest. Not real sure what a hurricane was other that it was bad. Then the tornado's hit. Sherwood Forest took a beating and church at STM soon after was humbling for a 5th grader.

Camille 69, but I was but a lad. I just remember hunkering down inside my grandparents house where we all had gathered.
