How much truth is there to the vitamin D thing? Seems like there has definitely been some correlation with negative covid outcomes and vitamin D deficiency.

It makes sense. Vitamin D plays a role in lung health in general, especially when it comes to lung development and inflammation. There’s some correlation between Vitamin D deficiency and frequency of upper respiratory infections and TB as well.

I take larger doses for a deficiency. I’ve noticed a reduction in colds since I have started taking it.

A major reason medical experts are recommending supplements and vitamins is because the average American diet is atrocious. The largest health crisis in the US is obesity caused by a very unhealthy and unbalanced diet. This unhealthy diet leads many people to be deficient in important vitamins that are important in fighting Covid. The short term solution is to take vitamins and supplements, but in the long term a healthier and more balanced diet is the best solution.

Friend,

Mother and I are taking:

5. Vitamin D
4. Vitamin C
3. Zinc
2. N-Acetyl Cysteine
1. Melatonin

As always, we are avoiding alcohol and are continuing a diet rich in anti-oxidants. In fact, last week blueberries were $2/lb at Sam's, making that anti-oxidant diet easy and cheap. We walk at least ten miles daily. We wash our hands at least 100 times each day. At all times, even in our own house, we wear masks because masks work. It is a sign of good citizenship and good Christian stewardship to wear a mask.

This information is not advice as to what you and your mother should take, but simply an answer to the original question.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

I agree with the importance of taking a multivitamin, zinc, and Vitamin C during this, but i think wearing a mask is just as important. But wearing / not wearing a mask is your business, not mine

Regular exercise and sun is also important.

That, except the mask part does affect the overall numbers

I've been taking elderberry since last fall. I'm guessing it works because I've only had one mild cold this winter. Usually I'm good for 3 a year.

My doctor recently recommended all of these after I asked about Vitamin C and zinc. I am already on a Vitamin D supplement as mine is chronically low without.

NAC was new to me but I followed his advice.
