Agreed. Any school in a big city should be the first to be disqualified. I think being located in a "college town" has to be a prerequisite for consideration.

I visited UCLA last year and was very disappointed
Yes you're in Brentwood and have everything within 15 minutes but it felt dead and too city for me
I like the small town that revolves around the school with the drag and the square downtown and the cafes that are open 24 hours. Those are awesome

Some bigger schools: Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, New Hampshire, Vermont, Cal, Oregon
Some private or smaller schools: William & Mary, Boston College, Northwestern, Colgate, Amherst, Middlebury, Notre Dame, Stanford, Oberlin, Williams, Davidson, Occidental, Centre, Union College. Gettysburg
Some bigger schools: Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, New Hampshire, Vermont, Cal, Oregon

in my opinion, LSu got kind of boring . then again im from br.
I think you need a smaller student body, great nightlife, people from all over (all kinds) , clubs, parties, women, sports. activities, arts , music,theater, places to explore, outdoors adventure( drugs). A place hwere you make friends and be a rock star.

UVA hits every one of those, too.
UC Santa Barbara would be awesome if they had a decent athletic program. Wisconsin would, too, if it wasn't colder than balls. Wisconsin girls are damn hot; one of the more underrated schools in that arena.

Loved UGA the couple times I visited but I think it would have been even cooler in the 90s before it/Atlanta became so big. I bet it used to resemble Oxford a lot more.
One place that gets an unfair reputation is College Station. When I went in 2012 I thought it would be a barren wasteland with a bunch of dorks, but it just wasn't. North Gate is not an amazing bar scene, but way better than I expected and certainly better than Tigerland.

UNC was pretty good, even as a grad student. For all around experience, i could vouch for it. UCLA, Washington, Michigan, Cornell, UVA, UGA, UCSB, UT-Austin, and UW-Madison all seem to have great blends of academics, athletics, social scenes, and successful alumni.

I actually likr their little strip right off campus. But their campus is ghetto enough to make a Southern fan lock their doors.
We drove to Alabama's campus recently. It was very pretty, reminded me of lsu, but seemed to be missing that atate street/aster/mckinley aspect. In short, it was better than LSU
