Have you not seen or read Old Yeller?

Give the dog the old yeller treatment.

Read it to him and he will die of boredom.

I had a Rottweiler that would do that when he was about 5-6 months old. My vet told be to grab the dog and force it onto its back and hold its shoulders to the ground until he quits fighting and goes limp.

He thinks he is the alpha. It is up to you to show him the error of his ways.

Did it once and never had another problem.

This shouldn't be a couple times thing, it should be an every time thing without question. I promise it'll start hurting before your hands do. You show a dog who the boss is a few times, they don't forget it

See I don't think I'd have a major problem getting him to submit if I put my mind to it, I'm more worried that while he might submit to me he won't submit to my wife or the kids.

Dogs are pack animals, they understand hierarchy of a pack (family) pretty well when shown the way. Also, like others have said, adequate exercise is pretty key in high-strung dog's behavior

Because frick responsible dog ownership and actually training the dog. I’ll just be white trash and shoot it.

I would beat his arse. Gouge his freaking eyes if he fights back. No one threatens my family.

Seriously, wrestling and pinning them on their back does wonders.

Dude, a good dog trainer will identify and correct the problem.

Most dog behaviors can be "fixed", unless it's a pitbull.

I will go toe to toe with my dogs if they want to get ignert. I don't have a problem.

If I had kids, I'd ditch the dog. Aint worth it.

Big Stick/Pelet gun. That will get the point across. Just be around the first few times ready to kick doggy arse.
