Well, I am well armed and practice my skill on a regular basis so that if my or a loved ones life is in danger my answer is pew.

Short of that, ram ground meat loaded up with rat poison.

Soak a baseball sized piece of sponge in bacon grease. Throw in yard. Guaranteed to plug the exit and he will die.

Funny.
They have a pitbull. That alone is indicative of the kind of people he's dealing with.

The dog actually crossed into our yard twice. We have video of the dog running after me.

What would you do?

Post the video so we can judge how aggressive the dog is and give proper advice

Not all neighbors are created equal.

Is the pitbull owner a renter, or is he or she an owner of the property.

If a renter, dude probably has no insurance and the owner may not know a pitbull is tearing the house apart by chewing on wood. Owner may not realize he is ultimately responsible.

If the dog owner is the owner of the property, is there a mortgage? Does the mortgage holder know that there is enough insurance on the property to handle damage done by the owner's bad choice of dog?

Lots of ways to approach a problem, some answers from a visit to the county/parish court house to check ownership.

This is the only answer. Anyone who would own a pitbull in a neighborhood is always going to be a problem.

UPDATE:

As of now, tomorrow morning the local police department will issue a citation and some document saying that they have x amouint of days to put 6 x 6 contained/fenced area for the dog to be outside or the dog will be removed.

Also, per my rules, the next time is comes after me in my yard, I will unload my shotgun in its face and ribs.

Had this happen to me as well. Neighbors precious pit bull constantly jumped fence and terrorized my family. The neighbors blamed me for being too loud while cutting my grass(no shite). The lawnmower "triggered" their dog. Got chased a few times taking out the trash. Could never go outside with my kids.

Christmas day, I was taking my dog out to use the restroom and their dog got loose and killed our dog. The had the audacity to blame me for not keeping my dog on a leash(jack russell terrier) and my dog was in MY yard.

We lived outside the city limits so it was the sheriff department that came out. We called numerous times before the bite incident and every time, the same deputy came out and basically took up for the pit bull owners. Come to find out, he had three himself. He never cited them for the dog trespassing but he had no choice for the bite incident.

We ended up moving away and a few months later, the other neighbors son was shooting basketball and the dog bit him on the face and head. The owners had no choice but to surrender but the male owner was crying like a little girl about his precious pitty witty. The dog was euthanized. The dog owner also got sued out the wazoo.

Here's another fun story involving a pit bull. My four month old daughter was having trouble breathing so we ended up at Lafayette General. There were getting us a room ready when this little boy came in and his face was mauled. We got bumped for him and he needed emergency surgery. The doctor asked the parents what kind of dog and the father said that he wasn't going into detail about the dog breed. My wife overheard their names so she looked them up on Facebook. Sure enough, they had 5 pit bulls. Not sure what happened afterwards.

Breed of peace tho. These dogs don’t need to be in a civilized society

Forgive me, I'm not too dog-savvy... pit bulls eat up your house?

Good for you. You handled it well.

I would’ve kicked that dog so hard in the head it would’ve turned into a parakeet

Buy a hatchet.

Old guy who lives across from the farm (and worked for another farmer) was attacked by a pitbull while walking to work (no DL due to numerous DUI's). He spend a couple weeks in hospital and had several surgeries. After about 6 weeks he was able to go back to work. Walking down the road again and dog runs out towards him. One swipe from the hatchet crushed the skull and killed the dog instantly.

After hearing about it I bought the guy a 30 rack of natty.

Thought you were going a different direction after saying you lived outside the city limits. The deputy took up for the pit bull even after it killed your dog? I'll take whatever fine there is for destruction of property at that point for shooting the fricker

I really don't believe the whole "it's how you raise them" speech. The neighbors had that pit and a black lab. Both dogs lived inside the house and they were very well taken cared of. The lab never did anything but bark, even when she got loose. If they were both "mistreated", don't you think the lab would have attacked as well?

I don't like to re-live this but when their pit grabbed a hold of my jack russell, the owner jumped fence and was trying to get his dog off. I grabbed my baseball bat and the owner was screaming at me to not hit his dog. The irony.

I would have smashed that mfer. It was in your yard killing your dog, all bets are off at that point.
