But generally 15"rims Tires will be cheaper than SUV tires.

None of the police units are using 15" rims... They all uses 17s to have space for the heavy duty brakes.

Boy, Click this link and suck ma balls.

Economics of Sedans Vs SUVs

or dis one.

BEWM! as Elle used to say.
Sedans vs SUV Cost
quote:

Total cost per year to operate a small sedan for 15,000 miles averaged $6,967 or 46.4 cents a mile, AAA reported, while a medium sedan averaged $9,151, or 61 cents a mile, and a large sedan, the second-most expensive category tested by the auto association, averaged $11,248, or 75 cents a mile. The overall average cost of driving a sedan was $9,122, or about 60.8 cents a mile.

AAA also calculated average cost and cost per mile for 10,000 miles annually and 20,000 miles.

In the SUV and minivan categories, AAA tested the following:

SUVs – Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Nissan Pathfinder and Toyota 4Runner.

Minivans – Dodge Grand Caravan, Kia Sedona, Honda Odyssey, Nissan Quest and Toyota Sienna.

In fact, the minivan category outperformed large sedans, with a total cost per year of $9,795, or 65.3 cents a mile on average, AAA reported, while the SUVs were the most expensive category, with an average annual cost among the five models tested of $11,599, or 77.3 cents a mile.

Well frick. Are they different? My dad was a DOTD police employee(Used to be part of Weights and Measures Enforcement) and his vehicle was a bit 'souped up' per se.
But are the brakes and tires and engines that much different that the maintenance on that ole Caprice and Crown Vic more than a Tahoe?

ETA: In Before my balls slap your butt.

Yes. Police units get heavy duty trans coolers, brakes, etc. They all get that, and the costs are relatively equal. You're right on the fuel consumption though, and they obviously cost more to buy.

I'm happy to call it a draw

All of them, and it seems like a waste of taxpayer money. I don’t live in the mountains, or anywhere you would need an SUV. They need to get their arse back in a sedan.

It cost more to stay in a full sized SUV. Everything wears faster because of the weight of the vehicle. Also consumes more fuel but I really wasn't talking about that. This is a funny point to pick apart from my post.

You called a Tahoe high maintenance. It's a perfect part to pick on.

I was saying that in comparison to a Charger or Impala. It will go thru wear items more frequently that those smaller sedans.

And it's still a ridiculous claim.

I remember one sheriff's office citing a study on road fatigue being less in the SUV's as compared to the sedans. I am willing this whole thing began with some group or study funded by the auto industry convincing police they needed SUV's.

All the local police and county sheriff's office are 100%.

Only the state patrol has cars and bikes but you only see them on the major highway being sneaky looking for tixs.

LSP uses a few crown vics still. They give those to the rookies.

After a year or so they get a 5+ year old Tahoe and the crown vics go to the new rookies

I would have to guess over 60% in the LP. All big new Tahoes. What is the purpose of those for law enforcement? They're big, slow, expensive

Is this a round about way of saying that a Smokey and the Bandit reboot is in order? Cause that would be awesome.
