My mom would play that shite on long car rides, till I destroyed the cassette tape in retaliation for throwing away my cassette tapes. She also listened to a lot of Bon Jovi, prince, heart, reo speedwagon, 2 live crew..and I didnt mind that shite.
Then another side of my family would always be listening to Carman, Petra, Keith Green, etc..
But that shite was more entertaining than Michael Bolton or bette midler wind beneath my wings frickery
I'll be honest with you, I love his music, I do, I'm a Michael Bolton fan. For my money, it doesn't get any better than when he sings "When a Man Loves a Woman".
But you must really love his music, huh?
He's pretty good.
You're goddamn right he is.
So tell me, what's your favorite song of his?

I don’t know why you’re shitting on the Eagles. My parents took me to the Hell Freezes Over tour in the Cajundome in 1995 when I was a kid and even then they were great and I’ll remember that night all my life.

Quick Story... My mother... Who I will admit has a real bipolar temper problem and learned a long time ago that the quickest way to get her way was throw a freaking tantrum...
Anyways, when I was young my parents would have parties and get drunk all weekend. Starting on Friday night and begin again on Saturday morning with Bloody Mary's and it all go again...
any ways my dad would play Hank Senior over and over and over and over... My mother threw a fit one weekend and broke all the records.
Good times....

The stuff they made me listen to that I didn't like then I like now. Lots of Steve Miller Band, Eagles and Fleetwood Mac and I remeber Supertramp a lot too. And Jim Croce. Those albums were on repeat on the Technics.

I've read this so many times and it confuses me. The yellow Submarine was way more trippy than Sgt Peppers.
But I bet what you're saying. Your parents liked pre drug not post drug beetles.

My parents weren't necessarily big 'music' listeners, on the whole, but what they did listen to didn't necessarily bother me in any way. My father would be out in his workshop, and have KWKH (Shreveport) playing on the radio all weekend long, with all the familiar country tunes playing. My mother was more apt to go for Englebert Humperdinck, who frequently popped up on tv. She would occasionally mention the only singer I think she ever saw in concert, Tex Ritter, when she was young. But anyway, my parents' musical tastes never remotely annoyed me, even if it wasn't my thing. Ditto my grandmother, who really loved Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald.
Neither of my parents really bought or played records. I was the only one in the house with a phonograph. And, I'd frequent garage-sales, picking up old 78rpm records wherever I found them, hence developing a taste for much older music that actually pre-dated my parents.

The Day that music Died. (By, by, American pie). Radio stations played this 50 times per day.

Your parents seem cool except they raised a musical retard.

Young FCP couldn't stand Willie Nelson. Something about his nasally voice coming across AM 1380 WYNK struck my 6-7 year old ears as discordant and just awful.
That didn't stop my folks from listening, and a few years later "Luckenbach Texas" became a favorite of mine. Nowadays, some 40+ years later, Willie is one of my all time favorite artists, I've seen him in concert many times, and I've actually smuggled some of his little-known albums here from other countries.

Probably when my mom played that damn Michael Bolton tape in the car.
Otherwise, most of the music that I thought sucked back then, I really like now
