What made the Lamborghini Countach so popular in the 80’s?

Seemed like every kid in the 80’s had the poster on the wall.

I don’t think children who grew up in the 60’s, 70’s, 90’s and 2000’s quite understand the impact of this specific vehicle in the 80’s.


Was it superb marketing on their behalf?

Look at it.

It's not a good car, though. James May finally drove one years ago on Top Gear and said it was awful.

The Gallardo was the top selling model until the Hurucan, so not so sure about that. And personally for me the Diablo was an all timer.

the big arse rear wing, and that it was so dramatically different than anything else before it. significantly so compared to the miura which was more like a traditional roadster look

a friends dad had the black and gold one. thing was bad:

i had a poster that had a huge house on a beach with like a 4 car garage with supercars. this was one of them. the poster read "justification for higher education"
