It looks like Google Maps refers to Barrow as Utqiagvik on their website.
That won’t work in the real world.

Go ask your neighbor if you can borrow his wheel-utqiagvik.

They don't get many hurricanes. It's cool.

The local high school football stadium/field in Barrow

Fun filled fact... that football field is named for a lady in jacksonville, fl apparently she was the driving force on fundraising to build it after seeing some video of what they used to play on.

Hunter gatherer lifestyle. Deadly cold in winter and still cool in summer. Polar bears everywhere. No roads leaving the city. You can walk out onto the sea

It's relatively wealthy for a native village. They changed the name recently to Utqiagvik

The median income for a household in the city was $63,094.09, and the median income for a family was $68,223. Males had a median income of $51,959 versus $46,382 for females.

I haven't been to Barrow for work yet but it's on the roadmap. I am looking forward to going but Dillingham, AK is coming up next. I have been to Kotzebue, AK. These villages are pretty desolate but really interesting. I went int he dead of winter and saw entire vehicles covered to the roof in snow.

Some interesting things from Kotz:

- A guy i worked with at the local hospital and his wife who is an admin at the local school collectively made $200K+. Thats how crazy the cost of living is there
- Alcohol can only be purchased with a formal license and the cost of a 6 pack of beer was around $15
- Due to the severe temperatures, the waste on beer getting to the local alcohol store is high because they explode before every making it there.
- 2 of the employees at the local hospital were from Slidell and New Orleans
- There is an actual Uber/Lyft driver there

Up front a lot of these communities want everyone to believe they are ]self sustaining. But other documentaries have shown that big portions of the population live on government aid. Not sure about this particular city but many require Uncle Sams dollars.
