Interesting and short documentary on Barrow, AK. Where a 12 pack of Pepsi costs nearly $13.00, it's sunny at 2 am and Polar Bears can be seen roaming the streets

Hunter gatherer lifestyle. Deadly cold in winter and still cool in summer. Polar bears everywhere. No roads leaving the city. You can walk out onto the sea

I’d kill myself just from the Pepsi alone.

It looks like Google Maps refers to Barrow as Utqiagvik on their website.

Interesting. In another short video I saw about it they mentioned the name change. Didn't go into specifics though

Up front a lot of these communities want everyone to believe they are self sustaining. But other documentaries have shown that big portions of the population live on government aid.

Not sure about this particular city but many require Uncle Sams dollars.

Doesn’t the State of Alaska give each of its residence a cut of their oil residuals...?

I had a buddy with LSU PD who answered an ad for a police officer in Barrow Alaska. He was the only qualified applicant and was hired. He contracted for 2 years. They sent him $6k to buy crap he would need(he spent a lot of it on video games and movies). He left in 1999 and I never heard from him again. His area of patrol was thousands of square miles, and he was the only officer. Figured he found a big fat Inuit wife to keep him warm.

Yeah. Between $1k and $2k a year

So you can buy a 12 pack of Pepsi a week from that

SJWs love using native names to stick it to the white man.
