Everyone seems to be trying to learn a languages right now. Thinking of trying my hand at another one after multiple failed attempts.

I can't imagine trying to learn to read English as a foreigner. All of our weird spelling shite and double-meanings within the same word must be insane to understand well.

No desire to learn anything else. Took French in highschool and college, at one time I could read it quite well. Don’t remember much of it though.

Japanese.

I've been to Japan twice, and while the locals are VERY accommodating, I feel bad not being able to ask for things in the native tongue. It's such a respectful culture, I feel like an a-hole visiting the country and not being able to speak the language. It's really hard to learn, though.

Yep, Wrestle Kingdom in Tokyo is a bucket list item for me so I'd love to visit eventually, but I wouldn't want to do it without at least being able to order a beer.

There aren't really different styles of beer in Japan, unless you go to a craft beer bar. You just order a beer and they give you the one style that they have. We went to Sumo back in January in a big arena in Tokyo and had ZERO problems ordering drinks or snacks.

Tokyo is fairly easy to navigate, as are Kyoto and Osaka.

We spent a few days on an island called Sado, and that and Niigata were the most trouble we had in terms of communication, because they're not really touristy areas.

Remember this sign language teacher back in the late 90s.
