True. And I think we English speakers overestimate the difficulty of our language relative to other languages. The more widespread languages, as a general rule, are easier to learn than languages that haven’t gotten around much. English and Indonesian are easier to learn than Navajo.

Any of the Slavic languages because once you’ve learned one, you’ve basically learned them all.


Loved visiting Split and Belgrade, and would easily go back to Eastern Europe at any given opportunity.

I at least know the alphabet. Don't understand how people that read lips can follow the translators -- it doesn't match the words (feel bad for them with all the masks).

I can functionally understand Spanish and French. Would like to know Italian.
