First was a cheap Murray given to me by my parents for Christmas, circa 1979. Then I saved up my lawn mowing money and bought a red Mongoose with gold rims. Like this:
Went head first over the handlebars once and skinned up my face, busted my lip and took a chunk of skin out of my knee. Bike's long gone, still have the scar on my knee.

would ride it to the bmx store on jones creek regularly to look at bike stuff.
If this was late 90’s, there’s no way we didn’t cross paths. I was all over coursey, tiger bend, Jones creek and every neighborhood in the area on my bike. Spent hours in both bike stores on jones creek. Bonus side note: we used to jump in the big recycling bin behind jones creek library and sift through the discarded magazines and news papers and find playboys.

That means you had a good childhood.

Have any video?...that's the era I rode.
Quite a lot. Most of it is on VHS and 8MM though...LOL. I should have those tapes converted to digital if for no reason than to one day show my grandkids how “gnarly” I was!
Speaking of gnarly, remember this video...101 Freestyle Tricks? I wore this tape out...pause, rewind, slow mow...rewind, take notes...go outside and practice. Rinse and repeat for hours and hours.

Got this bad boy for Christmas around ‘95, mongoose villain.
Still my favorite Christmas present of all time. Could stand straight up on the two bars just below the set with my calves against the seat to steer and stroll down the street. Had the cool gyroscope handlebar that could turn all the way around when doing jumps.
Stupid dipshit down the street from me stole it one night I forgot to lock it up a few years later. Never got it back, but I got him back though.

Got a Haro for Christmas. Within two weeks, was getting my arm/wrist snapped back into place at the ortho...that was the end of that hobby for me. My parents wasted some money.

I had a Diamondback Mongoose and a Yellow GT. Not all at the same time. It is partly why my bones ache in the AM from all the dumb shite I tried to jump on those bikes.
The Yellow GT was my favorite

Haro Master. Was more of a freestyler vs BMX.

Had a GT Mach One chromed out and beautiful. Got delivered to my house from that bike joint off Williams Blvd in Kenner. Got stolen from out front of Frank’s Cards & Comics within a couple months. Even had it flipped over to prevent theft.

Diamond Back, baseball stamped Japanese made model. ACS Z wheels, Uni Seat. It was a Franken-bike I pieced together. Loved it though.

Okay, I found the one I had. Redline Proline Jr.
My parents got me this bike and started pushing BMX in hopes I would quit motocross. Lol

Regular Sears bike for me in 60s/70s. No name kinda stuff. In 80s I got an "English racer" with multiple gears. It was the bomb. Wasn't any BMX or whatever.

started in 1994. Put an Aurburn Cr20R layaway at Cleary bicycles in Metairie. A year later traded it for a lighter GT Pro Series, then had a Pk Rjpper, Elf, Haro Monocoque, Aluminum GT Pro Series, aluminum Schwinn Race frame, DK, a few Standard 125r's. Got a co sponsored Redline deal and got an aluminum Proline. Then Profile sponsor and got one of their crappy aluminum frames. DK aluminum race frames, Hyper, Then got a Standard co sponsor and got a new 125r, Then some Haro frames. Got full deal with Staats and got their biked and now sponsored by Clayborn. I'm probably missing a few and ousted myself on here.
