I think some of his hitman charges were him being setup.
Iirc, the guy he thought he was killing was threatening to dox a ton of SR users. Ross thought he was offing somebody that would've deserved it.

I agree with him on most things and I 100% believe in true freedom but he became/is a narcissist and a sociopath. He tried to have people murdered to protect himself. He essentially became a mob boss through the dark web.
He lost sight if his true path and was sloppy. Sloppy at the very beginning mostly from using his real email address and not logging in through tails. And then got sloppy at the end, using the same few cafes not moving all the time and not using tails at all times along with keeping fricking Bitcoin on himself and in the house.
Rule number one is always keep a clean house at all times including laptops.
I don't feel sorry for him soley based on the murder for hire. frick him, he should not in prison. And not all the murder plots we're federal agents. They think the one in Canada was a scam soley because there has been no body and no report. They still aren't sure
Oh And frick the government

Had he not gone the whole hitman route he’d be a somewhat sympathetic character. That changes things a bit. How sympathetic is a guy that was willing to have a guy whacked?

Had a great idea but got in over his head and neglected to consider the fact that he was still going to be dealing with very dangerous people at some point once it got big enough. He just panicked. Can't imagine how stressed he was that last year or so.

Deetz on how he didn’t get charged for this...........

Because there's no point in complicating a case for a jury when you have him dead to rights on crimes carrying life.

Bought some good shite from his site.

BTW, a great book about him is American Kingpin: The Epic Hunt for the Criminal Mastermind Behind the Silk Road. Read it a while back and it's almost hard to believe it wasn't a work of fiction.
Listened to this a few months back. Great book for dog walks. Recommend the hell out of it

Yea i think the original one where they sent pics to him of the 'hit' is kind of indefensible. The one where they had the target in custody and they made fake pics by The bathtub. The chats made it sound though like he just wanted to scare the guy but he got almost lured into being violent
Not only that all those dude ended up stealing money from the Silk Road, crooks each one

I only ask because today a candidate for the house met with Trump and discussed his case with Trump.
Steve King is a current congressman with a lot of seniority, but I'm not seeing where the tweet indicates he was going to talk about the Silk Road case.

No opinion, but every time I see dread pirate Roberts I always hear it in my head with that deep lisp of Andre the Giant.

He ran a major drug trafficking website on the dark net. I’m not surprised he got hit hard. It has been some time since his conviction, though. Time tends to soften the edges. Personally, I think two life sentences plus 40 years is excessive. I see he was accused of 6 hitman hires, but he wasn’t convicted. I’m not a fan of harsh punishment for non-violent or non-sexual crimes.

An Australian True Crime podcast, called Casefiles, does an excellent look at the events and the downward spiral, for those interested but who don't want to listen to an entire audiobook. Clocks in at about 3 and a half hours in total.

Not to mention you don’t care what drugs people do as long as it doesn’t harm other people. Drug use affects more than just the user. A little weed probably not but not all drugs are the same and their users are not the same.

The agent in charge of that operation got sent to federal prison as well. As did 2 others i believe. I remember an agent force from dea, fbi agent bridges maybe? Curtis green was the target. An admin who had 2 kilos of cocaine go missing... then the agent started stealing bitcoin with that dude's access, all while said agent was talking to Ross about offing dude. Hard to pretend it wasn't entrapment, on top of plain old theft.
What really chaps my arse... plural of mongoose aka variety jones, real life name thomas clark is gonna get charged in this. Never set foot in america, only gave advice to a kid... also gonna get lifed out. Fought extradition for a couple years in Thailand, before landing here in june. 100% certain of his claims of a different agent threatening/blackmailing them for btc. Been fricking with PoM since the overgrow.com days. First major marijuana growing website seized by the feds, maybe in 03-04

That's a pretty great podcast for other cases as well. Ready for episode 3 on the toy box next week.
