By far, the most mesmerizing was the OJ trial, make the final verdict. The chase is up there as well because people had no warning whatsoever.

Up late with CNN on. They cut over to breaking news of Saddam's tanks rolling into Kuwait City. Just rolling down the roads alongside the commuters going "WTF?"

My first memory on the day of 9/11 was my idiot classmate (9th grade) telling the whole class that someone was attacking the White House. Our math teacher brought out this ~9 inch black and white TV, and that's what we watched for the rest of the day.

I remember the CNN radio broadcast from Baghdad, a night airstrike.

Wolf Blitzer and Bernard Shaw were in a hotel room as the strike occurred. Wolf was leaning out an open window giving a fantastic play-by-play of the explosions and tracer fire, and Bernie was freely admitting that he was hiding under a desk or bed, and telling Wolf to get down.

Oh yeah, two stark and sudden death moments caught on the local news:

LINK
Jeff Doucet (I think), being flown back into Baton Rouge on kidnapping and sexual abuse charges. The cameras were rolling as they led him up the ramps as they came off the plane. Gary Plauche, the victim's father, was in the airport, in a phone booth. He turned and shot Doucet in the head.

Also, one day the channel 2 crew was reporting from the Balloon Fest (I forget which year it was). The reporter was standing and talking to the camera, and you saw a balloon just drop out of the sky about a hundred yards behind him. Fricking random disaster, I think the cameraman said something and the reporter had no idea what was going on.

Black hole created by CERN on 23 September 2015...yeah, it's in the future, but we're all trapped by its event horizon, so time doesn't mean anything anyway...

Most of the big events, 9/11, 2004 tsunami, japan tsunami, columbia, etc. I missed live and watched after an hour or more later.

Did see this one live though

I have the same as most (9/11, Space Shuttle...)

But one of the most interesting was the Oklahoma City bombing. I remember a friend and I had just gotten home from a long night in New Orleans. The TV was on but the sound was down and we thought it was an action movie. Then we changed the channel and it was on every channel that is when we realized what was going on.
