Chicken fried steak and gravy with Pinto Beans and Fried Potatoes. She also made the best chicken salad of all time. Have never had better.

One of my grandmothers was a full blood Greek lady and she cooked some amazing Greek food. The other one's Thanksgiving dinner and pies were great.

Man. I’m jealous. Both my mom and my grandmother cooked each day for sustenance, but I wasn’t really brought up in a “cook great food from scratch” type of family. My mom does more scratch cooking now due to it being a big hobby of mine and it kinda rubbing off on her.
But growing up, it was your fairly typical crock pot roast, jambalaya made from Louisiana brand mix, Prego/Ragu meat sauce, etc. I enjoyed it all, but doesn’t hold a candle to a lot of the posts here.

My mom was the same and still is. My grandmothers could throw down in the kitchen however. And my grannys 1 acre garden with the fresh veggies was the stuff of dreams lol.

What is your favorite meal that your Grandmother cooked?
Gramps was the real cook.
Meatball stew (dark roux) thick like a bowl of oatmeal over rice
Or
Standard beef roast stuffed and babysat for 4-5 hours to where it falls apart

Mine could cook bluegill or walleyes like nobody's business.

Pinto beans cornbread (not that sweet crap) and fried potatoes along with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from her garden.
On a side tangent the first fried chicken I ever ate was after my grandpa rung the chickens neck and my grandma plucked it.

fried hot water bread

What is this?
Essentially cornbread fried in grease in a cast iron skillet. It's not that simple but that's the best way I can describe it. Like biting into a fried chicken patty, but it's sweet cornbread inside instead of meat. Crispy on the outside with the flavor of bacon grease that she saved from breakfast prior. Damn just talking about it makes me hungry.

Ok here is recipe. OT faux pas I know, but screw it.
One cup cornmeal
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
One teaspoon salt
Boiling hot water
Mix dry ingredients and add boiling hot water and stir well until you can form a patty. Fry in hot oil in cast iron skillet. Wet hands with tap water after making each patty. Line plate with paper towels to drain oil after frying.

We were lucky there. My parents served us cucumbers and/or salad almost nightly with dinner since they grow so many cucumbers.
Mom is actually bagging me up a ton of lettuce from her garden right now for me to pick up tomorrow.

I don't know if it is flour and milk pancakes with melted butter and sugar and water syrup or plain hamburgers on a plate (no cheese, bun, bread, condiments) with a boiled potato and a piece of single layer chocolate cake with hard chocolate icing on top. I miss my grandma. She and grandpa.didn't have much but offered what that had.
