Relax, doc.

I was just using it as an example that BMI is not always a hard and fast rule.

Some of us Type A's read that chart and we'll have an eating disorder by morning.

Yeah BMI is mostly a load of shite because it doesn't take into account people with an athletic build. Waist circumference is a better measurement of being overweight.

Very true, waist, hip, and chest size are all important in figuring out your true BMI.
I'm a 29/30 waist, definitely not overweight. The OPs page wasn't far off for me, but for larger people with an athletic build, it is pretty inaccurate.

For the majority of us, it is.

People have a skewed view of what a healthy body habitus is in this country because we have been surrounded by fatsos for so long.

Obese is now fat, fat is now normal, and normal is now thin.

We done fricked up our perception.

So you think they should include pro athletes? You think it makes more sense to revolve around the 0.1% individuals?

Scruffy can’t grasp that of the small subset of the upper middle class population that posts here, an even smaller subset of athletes would be interested in posting in a thread about how shitty BMI is as an individualized metric

Bruh, this board is based in LA.

Everyone in that state is fat.

I mean, I get it.

When I buy life ins., all they want is HT/WT, they don't GAS what my 5K time is, or what my chest size is.

"Here's your quote overweight BMI person. Have a nice day."

The things y’all go through to not feel fat

BMI is a great indicator for 99% of the population

The other 1% can ignore it

Hell, Scruffy will give them two standard deviations and say it may not be applicable for up to a max of 5% of the population, and Scruffy is being REALLY generous there.

They can take solace in the fact that they are in the top 5% of Americans.

The above stats are for Drew Brees, BTW.

Just think of how much of a fatty he'd be if you put his real height.

Drew says he's 6'.
NFL says he's 6'.

I say he's 10' tall and bulletproof.

that doesnt really apply to the people who need to see this, and you know it. when you go to walmart, how many "athletic builds" do you see?

america, especially the south, is fat and getting fatter. "athletic builds" is not the epidemic, obesity is
