You ever been to a track meet. Even the lowest classification has multiple people under 6 minutes.

your information....is wrong

The world record in the mile run is the best mark set by a male or female runner in the middle-distance track and field event. The IAAF is the official body which oversees the records. Hicham El Guerrouj is the current men's record holder with his time of 3:43.13, while Svetlana Masterkova has the women's record of 4:12.56.[1] Since 1976, the mile is the only non-metric distance recognized by the IAAF for record purposes.

Only time I've ever been timed was once in HS and it was 5:50.

I wasn't a distance runner. My 52 (once in a relay) in the quarter was probably more impressive.

Yes. Most of civilization can run a mile in under 10, over 8.

But this board is filled with track stars who can join the Olympic team

Most adults. High school kids certainly can run faster. 5:38 here and never saw the track. I came in 3rd that day.

I won the 50 yard dash at my elementary school track meet in 6th grade. Even beat the only black kid in my entire Catholic school. I was the fastest white boy on the planet that year (1989).
