I saw guys regularly hit 11 minute two miles in the army, no way that's near Olympic level.

2 miles is not regularly contested outside of a few places (mainly a promotional distance), and some high schools.

IAAF no longer keeps world records, but the "world's best" time is a sub 8:00 2 mile by Daniel Komen in 1997.

One of my ROTC classmates regularly ran it in under 11 minutes - 25 years ago. I wouldn't even argue someone was "near" world class slower than 8:45 (male) or 9:50 (female) over 2 miles.

5:13 in 1988. It was my first mile split on a 3 mile race. Totally burned out and ended with a 21:00ish time.

7:50 last year.

My personal best is 3:52. That was a while back though, I figure I'd run about 5:00 today.

5:17 is my best mile time. It was when I was in high school and I was in the best shape of my life. I ran the mile again this summer and finished in 6:03. I doubt Ill ever be able to crack sub 6:00 again.

My best mile time ever was 5 minutes, 21 seconds. I would have been faster had I not had a giant blister form on my foot just before the last lap.

The fastest 2-mile time I have ever seen was at a track meet in Hoover in my junior year of high school. Some tall ginger from one of the Birmingham area schools broke the state record with a time of 9:57.

Ehh, my little brother routinely hits in the 4:30.

I wasn't lucky enough to get that runners spirit, but I did get the maulers might (ie I'm a fat guy)

Fastest mile was 6:18

Fastest 3 mile was 21:50

I can't recall what I run the 2 mile in because I rarely ever run just 2. I usually do 1,3,4, or 8
