I just recently (July) upped my contribution % and I'm putting about $500.00 a month + match in mine.

When we go on an upswing I will profit

13% still putting 400 a week in, hopefully when we recover it will be worth the sacrifices.

I moved to all cash when Biden took office. I kept an IRA invested in longshots. Waiting for the collapse.

Currently down 9.5%

Offsetting some of that by purchasing maximum amount allowed of I-Bonds, which has a return based on rate of inflation. They are currently paying 9.62%

The rate changes twice a year (April & October) based off previous 6 months rate of inflation. So should be going up again next month.

Not a 401k but my wife's portfolio consists of stock she inherited, primarily Cadence (used to be Bancorpsouth) and Moody's. She's down about 300k ytd although it's still way up from when she took possession a few years ago.

One thing that is a constant is that the stock market is the best overall device for growing your savings. There are dips but if you look at historical charts over the past 30 years you will see that constant growth.
