About ten years ago we had a lady doing insurance and HR Anyway my wife goes to get some dental work done and they said she isn’t on my insurance, it was right after re-enrollment. I go to her office and make her pull the file. Sure enough it was signed, she tells me it her fault but nothing she can do. Myself and my direct manager tell her a few things. Upper management calls me and tells me to let it go or I’d be terminated. Cost me $1200

Wow! That’s BS! She should’ve been let go.

I was once “hired” for a job that was going to be an internal transfer within a large organization only to be told a week later that they realized that they didn’t actually have an opening on the project. They did let me know that they would make a position but it would take a couple months and they ended up keeping their word, but when I got that call I was thinking “what the frick”. It was going to be a 60% increase in pay, so I went from being elated to pretty bummed after receiving the call. It all worked out ultimately though.

At another clusterfrick of an organization I “accidentally” was paid too high of a bonus and had to end up paying it back over the next several pay checks.

The first 10 years of my career I worked for a smallish company. No 401k. Only an ESOP. The rules of the plan said they would pay out over 5 years. Two years post separation they went bankrupt leaving 3/5 of my money still owed.

I worked with a guy like this.. He was I guess #2 in charge. Project Manager B I think was his official title. He was supposed to just be in charge if the project manager wasn't there, but he would assign people to things that were part of his job then expected people to work on it even if it meant staying past they time people got off, but then eventually got reassigned because he would have 3 or 4 people working late and they were racking up OT hours and there was a slight mismanagement of the hours, but evidently this dude would stay at work until 10 or 11 PM and be there at 6:30 AM.

He must have hated his wife.. Or was avoiding something.

Young and dumb, was working as a laborer (Turner) at a plant one summer, and we had some boxes of Powerade that were past the expiration date. One of the plant employees (who was buddies with the other scaffold crew guys) tells me that the plant manager said he could take the expired Powerade for his kids baseball team. He gives me and the water truck chick his keys to load the boxes in his truck. As I'm pulling back into the gates the guard tells me park the truck so and so wants to see me. An hour later I was driving home fired for "stealing Powerade".

Lesson learned.

I worked for a company in the great recession and the would not lay me off because they didn't want to pay for the un-employment. So they cut my pay in half twice forcing me to quit. Major *ssholes.

I had taken over a private business as manager. It was oilfield related and the oilfield was on the way into a crash. So I put some stuff that we sold on the internet, long story short, I ended up scraping a wholesaler's website around 2001and adapted it to my shopping cart template and started drop shipping almost against their will and started figuring out PPC advertising and next thing you know, I'm selling millions of dollars worth of shite after I beat up Amazon for margin that got me to the top of them in my market. This was when they were starting to sell more than just books.

When it became apparent this was going to be a thing, the owner and his son who had just graduated with his MBA and was acting as my web developer took me to lunch and we all shook hands, named the new group we were going to work under and be partners in. I was named managing partner. I came up with another website that blew up so huge we took it down because demand couldn't be met. But that first one was steadily growing. I added a catalog for a few years. Anyway, I walked in one day and was told I was being let go. I knew what was happening. Walked out without a word.

The next week the wholesaler called me and asked if would do it for them. I did it with 64 more websites in nine years.

Started at a new company along with 4 other guys. Couple of weeks into work, on the first pay day, one of the other new guys grabbed me and said we’re only getting paid 80% of what we thought, and showed me his check. I get my check, sure enough, only 80%. We talked to the other 3 guys, same thing.

We march into the office and ask WTF, get told it’s company policy that new hires start at 80%, increasing by 5% every 6 months. I was about to politely ask, “So I’m not going to make what I thought I was for 2 YEARS?” But one of the other guys beat me to it, in a much rougher fashion. Yes was the answer. The shite hit the fan, yelling, screaming, threats, ect. 3 of the other guys quit very loudly and walk out the door.

Manager tells me and the other guy to hang tight, he’s going to call the boss. Comes back, says they’ll bump us up to 90% today and 100% in 6 months if we stay. Better than nothing we figured, so we stayed. Both of us found different jobs within a couple months, place was nothing but lies and deception.

I quickly learned in my industry that not only did I get a signing bonus for almost every project I signed on to, but I was also paid at the first of the month. There were times it took a couple of days, but if it took longer than that I'd just stop returning phone calls
