If Austin on the west side of Chicago was it’s own town, it would top the list.
It’s weird passing through the posh Oak Park area on the train then see the landscape abruptly change when you cross into the Austin neighborhood. Wow.
Chicago has some awesome areas though. It doesn’t belong on the list.

Strangely, I liked it there.
Lived there from 1998-2003.
Airborne and Special Operations Museum was great.
The Cape Fear Regional Theater did some great shows.
The Fayetteville Museum of Art had a Chihuly exhibit and an Ansel Adams exhibit.
Lots of good golf courses.
Luigi’s, Treo, 316 Oyster Bar, Husk Hardware were fun places to eat.
It’s not Paris or New York, but it’s not the end of the earth.
