Rotting fish and dog crap

We are still in a drought here. My friend took his dog out in the country and was walking around a dried up a farm pond and the dog started eating dead fish. He was driving back to town when his dog threw up rotten fish on him in his truck.

"Rotting people" seems to be running away with this one. I've smelled plenty of rotting mammals, and while the smell is distinct, it was not my #1.

Yeah, humans are bigger than raccoons and deer and whatnot, but I think there's something about smelling that smell, and knowing it's a person.

Many years ago there was this really fat dude in front of us at the check out line in blockbuster and the guy probably hadn't showered in at least a month. The smell was like nothing I've ever smelled coming off a person. Don't know if that's the worst thing I've ever smelled but it's bad enough to remember 15 years later

If you can still call the smell to mind, then that fat dude won.

This morning... I went to clean out the skimmers in the pool after neglecting it for a week. A rabbit had apparently gotten in the pool and swam his way into the skimmer. I'm shocking the pool now to clear out the funk.

Actually, I have to edit this because the two are equal. Years ago, I had to go fix a computer issue at a funeral company in the "care room." I grabbed a belly full of Wendy's not even thinking about it and headed to work. Apparently the "care room" is the embalming room and when I got there it smelled like rotten shrimp. They were working on a customer that had been in the river a few days. As I was outside losing my Wendy's, I asked that they just use the words "embalming room" next time.

Buddy of mine makes pogie oil for cobia fishing tournaments. Process is simple—cram 3/4s of a 5 gallon bucket with pogies, cap it, and let it sit out on the dock in the summer sun for a week. Oil rises to the top so scooping with a ladel is pretty easy for bottling, but damn, when that lid’s cracked for the first time!

Patient one time had a wound on his foot that was slightly green. Yep you guessed it, osteomyelitis which was gangrene. Think spoiled meat that’s been left out and add other nasty smells to it. Half the unit was gagging and thats saying something. We can handle a lot of nasty shite. Patient getting chemo and has an ostomy bag. That smell will stay with you for a while.

An sbd in a truck after a weekend at the duck camp. The mix of beer, grease and duck guts is hard to beat and will singe your nostrils

We have a CT scanner in the County Medical Examiner's office here and I've had to go in there a few times. It's literally the smell of death and I absolutely hate going in there, it freaks me out. I do everything I can to avoid going.

Side note, I also laugh because they purchased the heart monitor option for the system. Don't think that's going to be used.

That makes me think of everyone who wasn’t vaporized at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I bet those places were ripe for awhile.

Dead burnt bodies. Before that it was as a kid cleaning a Turkey and accidentally opening the stomach. Yack.
