Im over 40 and have been married.. but i also think you are dead wrong …. Marriage is not for everyone, and isnt some ‘end all/be all’.. people who think like that are the *actual* problem.. matter of fact, with the way the laws are tilted, getting married is a pretty foolish thing to do IMO, if you have options .. Get ur thinking out of the dark ages baw .
this baw here gets it. You have to remember we are dealing with small town, southern conservative folk who are in many ways still living in the dark ages. Not living the american dream, or any type of alternative lifestyle, was never going to hit their radar

If I was 40 I would date anywhere from 29-44. That’s just an estimate. Who says you have to date an ugly 40 year old? With all this hate, you better be an in shape 40 year old. If you are, go date the early mid 30s women.

Lol. Boulder is the most conventional small city in America. It moves in lockstep. 40 square miles of social conformity surrounded by reality.. You aren't kidding anybody, bro.

I mean, there's a pretty big age bracket between 18 and 40. What's wrong with dating a 30 y/o? Granted, if she's 30, single, and childless, then you're probably going to be dating a woman that is planning on getting knocked up. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
Either date a younger woman with the idea that you'll be a daddy, or go for the 40+ y/o woman that is A.Okay with just going on trips and having a dog or two.

B town is far from conventional, especially in the traditional sense that is thinking something is wrong with people for not wanting marriage as we are discussing here

Depends, are my kids around or not in this scenario?

How old are you? Nobody is saying you have to date 40 year olds.

Look I'd recommend Boulder ALL day long. Obviously the best quality of life of anywhere I've lived and by a wide margin and I've lived in some cool spots. But the people, bro, lol. You meet more authentic people in a week in south Louisiana then in a year in Boulder. It's a poser city. Everybody in my crowd in Boulder would laugh about that-a transitory city with weak, weak roots. Everybody you knew a decade ago is back in Cali/Oregon/Wisconsin/Michigan. I do miss my daily Mt. Sanitis trail run loop and my Saddle Rock run. And I literally relive every Bear Mountain Green Mountain trail in my head. And of course cycling for hours in Sunshine Canyon. All epic. But the people, bro. Very conventional, filthy white guy dreds or not.

conventional in the fact they are white and granola, sure. non-conventional in many other ways
did you get priced out and have to move back with all the poors in louisiana?

Wife's family issue/family business opportunity. I lived on Walnut by the 7-11 down from Naropa first, then off 28th, then on Manhattan and finally bought a house down Baseline in Indian Peaks. Made a killing on that home when I moved. Miss going to Avs games. Miss Mustard's Last Stand lol. Great restaurant and beer scene. Miss the skiing. Most of all miss my hikes. I was a bit excessive
Not sure why you think Louisiana is all poors. Sorry you and yours were.

A not so subtle jab at somebody who would put "No poors in thread please" in a thread title
For all those reasons you mentioned and many more, I could never leave this environment and the quality of life it provides

That was just a self- effacing joke as my neighborhood is far from upscale.
But you will leave . Everybody leaves Boulder. It’s like Florida. You come. You leave. At the very least you move to Erie or Lakewood or something.

I can’t think of anything if you keep yourself in decent shape.

What? If you are a single man around 40 and in reasonable health with a good job you can pull women in their 20s. As a man when you age typically you can go younger, it don't work the other way around. If you are dating saggy divorced women at your age than look in the mirror, hit the gym, get in shape and get a better job.

Is it mandatory to get hitched? Decided a long time ago that I don't want that aggravation. I simply do what I want when I want. No questions asked.

As far as I know, it isn't mandatory to be married nor does it mean you have red flags if you aren't. I have no desire to do it again. I think at my age and the fact I've been single so long, I don't think I could live with anyone full-time but, that's just me!
