Downtown Florence has several really good restaurants. I recommend The Pie Factory(pizza), Ricatoni's(Italian), Rosie's Cantina(tex-mex), or City Hardware(American). A few bars in the same area, On the Rocks, Wildwood Tavern, etc. Stay at the Marriott. Relatively new hotel that overlooks the river, awesome pool, and good in-house restaurant, Swampers.

I'll check out Florence instead. I'll only be staying one night, but still, who wants to be holed up in a hotel room for a night because there is nothing to do?

Bought a 4 wheeler at Lake Hill Motors. Good hunting store called Lonnie's and a Mexican joint called Mi Torro. That's about all I remember. Oh yea almost forgot about the Dinner Bell restraunt next to Lonnie's. Used to stop there on the way to R'Kansas duck hunting.

Not one mention yet about the music scene in Florence? Both historical (Swampers, FAME studios, etc.) and current (e.g. John Paul White's venue 116 Mobile)

There's literally nothing to do in Corinth. If I was you I would stay at The Inn at Pickwick. Would be closer plus you would be right on the water.

OP, i grew up 10 min from Corinth. There is absolutely nothing to do there. Youd be better off staying in Florence. Much better town to stay in.

Edit: Shiloh is a fun trip though. Enjoy it!

Probably good people but a boring little town in the middle of nowhere. I stayed in Columbus MS (not too far from Corinth), and those were some of the best people you'd ever meet.

My great grandfather was wounded at the Hornet's Nest at Shiloh.

Finally got to go there about eight years ago. Most beautiful, well-kept area you would want to see.

As for Corinth, I think we went to the US Park Service deal but don't remember much about it. The battlefield was the deal though.

Stay in Florence at the Mariott during WC Handy week if you can... (last week of July). There will be good music all over town, the hotel is very nice, and the bar at the hotel will be busy with good music and a good crowd. The Alabama music hall of fame is worth a visit, hellen keller's homestead, cane creek nature preserve, forks of cypress , the old railroad bridge, and lots of other cool things to see in do in Florence. Sherman stayed at Wesleyan Hall on UNA Campus. Pope's Tavern is a museum there that was a hospital during the civil war.

More I think about it Florence has some cool civil war side stories... Like the old rail road bridge where soldiers cross, Sherman staying at Wesleyan Hall, Pope's Tavern, Forks of Cypress, and the old cemetery in downtown Florence has a section of civil war graves.
