What is the story/origin with fighting and "Sonic?"

when I see a Sonic commercial with those two pixies a fight is the last thing I can imagine.

Somebody insulted an Auburn QB on the SEC rant and that guy got challenged to a fight at the Opelika Sonic

Goes back to me challenging Darth to a knife fight at Sonic. From there it went O-T viral.

I thought it was Daniel Cobb former Auburn QB challenging someone on here to fight at sonic. I know that happened. I guess that's not the origin?

Sit down, Son. This might take awhile.
It was a beautiful evening one hot summer day, August 2004. Chicken was making his rounds on the site checking out all forums to make sure everyone was doing fine. See, this was a simpler time. We only had three forums at the time, and two of them were in black and white, one was radio broadcast only via .wav .
I digressed. Chicken had his afternoon cup of joe in his hand. No Sugar, straight with a drop of Whiskey. He checks out the first forum. It was called MS-Dos Game board. A couple of the young gents was talking about their epic Pong match. Nothing exciting here, so he made his basic pleasantries and went to the next board.
The 8-Track Music board. This is where the excitement begin. Chicken walked into a forum with two people fighting about how the new cassette tape was going to end all 8-track players. He quickly ended the fight by forcing one of the people to leave the forum and never return again (historians believe that was the first banning ever). Things were settled down now on the webpage. Chicken was getting record traffic. 14 people a day. But one day, it became 13. The one person missing was the one that was allowed to stay in that fight. Deputies rode their horses all about the web community looking for signs of him. Wanted ads for the Banned poster were on all the original websites like askjeeves, myspace, and even excite.com...
The cops found the barely moving body. It was in the dumpster of a sonic. He had an ocean water poured on his head. He was crying. Cops asked him what happened. They had an old fashioned quarrel at Sonic.
And that my son, is how sonic came about.
and how I just wasted company time writing that.

Sonic doesn't even make sense as a place to square up a problem with some fist to cuffs. It is like the only place that technically doesn't have a parking lot for said fist to cuffs.
