Anybody see that show about pirate treasure on the island of Adak?

It's this huge Alaskan island with an abandoned US military base. Less than 50 people live on the island. Tons of empty homes and buildings. They are actively trying to get more people there. Lots of places like that around the world..

Deportation. To Antarctica. Either contribute to society, or get out.

Stopped at a gas station to fill up, dude with dirty/old clothing crosses in front of my truck. When I look back, he’s gone, and the only place he could have gone was into an abandoned outlet mall.

1) Increase spending on mental health.

I’m not saying mental health is not deserving of more resources, but “increasing mental health spending” has lately become the panacea for all societal ills. What exactly does more mental health even mean? It’s not going to stop thugs from being thugs, and thieves from being thieves, or assholes from being assholes. It’s not going to help the people who simply enjoy being trashy or violent. And it’ll hardly make a dent in the drug addiction numbers.

Jobhavingness

Almost anyone who wants a job can find one right now. Being homeless is too easy. Besides government programs, the fricking bleeding heart retards who insist on feeding the strays at every street corner are a huge problem. Their naive idiotic giving only deepens the problem. You’d think after the explosion of beggars in every city the past few years, and the common knowledge that so many beggars are there by choice and not need would eventually curtail the mindless giving of hard earned money, but nope.

Many have mental issues plus drug addition. Cure them of drug addiction, they still have mental issues. Then there's those that don't want help.

I've participated in veteran homeless outreach. Turns out most have VA Disability and/or SS disability, and most didn't want help.

Capitalism failed and crashed in the 1920's. The economy has been propped up by the government ever since.

Henry VIII enacted some draconian vagrancy laws. I don’t think they really worked but maybe we’d have more luck.

San Antonio has the right model for homeless

They clean out camps, give people option of the haven for hope campus, or hit the road. Camp has huge amount of resources and space.

I’m not sure what you can do about people who have no interest in improving their lives and are content with being homeless and on drugs all the time.

That makes up about 80% of the homeless according to those that work with them, and manage shelters.

Homelessness in cities and towns should be outlawed.

How is that possible? A mandate that states people can’t be homeless would require the state to provide homes.
