What is the OT's take on parents paying for adult children on a family vacation?

Or grandparents.

Trashy? Reasonable? Discuss.

My grandparents paid for us to go on a cruise for their 50th wedding anniversary. Yes, were trashy.

If you can afford it, it seems perfectly reasonable.

Who cares. Maybe the adult kids aren't in a financial situation as well off to pay for it? Maybe parents just want to? I think it's way trashier for anyone to take a vacation they can't afford

My parents invited me to go on a vacation with them. I don't see it as trashy but I felt the offer was too much.

I know parents offer that just to get their kid(s) to spend some time with them once they get older because it's harder to get everyone together at the same time. Whatever works I suppose.

My inlaws do it. It gives everyone a reason to go every year. I didn't understand it when I was younger, but I do now. I will do the same when my kids start leaving the house.

Every year my parents rent a house at the beach and one in the mountains. It's up to us to get there on our own dime and pay for anything while there but they pay the lodging.

Nice way to get all the grandkids and everyone together for a week that you would not normally do.

It's a great way to transfer some assets in a tax free way to the next generation.

My parents always rent a big place and invite us on a vacation at least once a year. They don't cover transportation and I pitch in for food but they cover place to stay

Perfectly reasonable.

Go make up with your parents while there is still time.
