Seen family members die horrible deaths because cancer or advanced age. Assisted suicide would let them die with dignity and on their own terms, at home surrounded by family.

Assisted suicide
Perfectly acceptable way to end someones suffering.
Even though the bible beaters will be here to tell you that Jesus wants you to suffer till the very end--no shortcuts, bro.

If someone is of sound mind and chooses this route (due to terminal illness, etc.) then I am in favor of it. I would want the choice if I was in that spot.
That said, where does the line get drawn? I don't know that you can really set standards for it but for every person with a terminal illness or advanced age there is just going to be some shmuck who hates his life and wants to take the easy route and die.
FYI: I've struggled with depression for years so I'm not just casting stones. Personally, I would never take this route just because I was unhappy.

Should be legal
Killing yourself in any form should be legal. It should be illegal for cops/whoever to stop you or try to lock you up or whatever.
I lost my mom to suicide and I still believe this

I’m def for it with the proper mechanisms in place. Would do for my mom right now. She’s been in a bed fed by a tube and completely unaware of her surroundings for 2 years.......

I don't know what the OT's opinion of it is but the Clinton's think it's fricking great.

Depends on the situation, right?

I say people should be able to do what they want, including ending their life in a controlled setting.

I'm all for it if regulated properly. Who is the government to tell us if we can take our own life or not? And most people who would be candidates are too weak to do it themselves; hence the assistant comes into play.
Probably not a popular opinion, but I think Jack Kovorkian (sp?) did great work and enabled people to stop the pain and suffering.

I have no problem with it. All hospitals/hospice do for people who are suffering is to keep them doped up till they pass. Why not just give a person that's suffering the option to end their life?

I hope that I have that option to at least consider for myself when the time comes. Maybe have a huge family party for a couple of days and then a planned death on my own terms.

Yikes. Sorry to hear that.
Someone tell what good for anyone it does for a human to be in this condition? Other than the medical industry of course.
Hope your mom finds peace soon.

When you see your aunt writhing in pain and begging for it to all end and she’s of sound mind and able to give consent, it should be legal and peaceful to end their suffering
