Being the first up the ladder to search a suspect cargo vessel in the Persian Gulf. Your half hungover shipmates telling you they got you covered just amplifies the pucker factor.

Yeah probably this for me.

I've been in some hairy situations, but either adrenaline kicked in or I was too pissed to be scared.

Probably almost losing my mom to Stage IV cancer

Blessed that she eventually recovered and responded so well to treatments. Man that was an awful time in our household.

some dumbass making the 2nd trip over a few days to try to break in my apartment, via kicking the door in. I wasn't home the 1st time, I was home the 2nd.

Center Point, Alabama around year 2000.

That neighborhood has just gotten shittier as time has passed.

Flying in a KC-135, on an incentive flight with the Royal Singapore Air Force at the controls.

I stood up to stretch on the most boring incentive for a "High Speed" Airman of all time. We ended up in some turbulence over Nebraska. We dropped pretty quickly, I caught some air and landed on the pallet of MREs in the center of the plane. I thought we were done. Scared the shite out of all of us.

I wanted to kick the little navigator's arse when he leaned back from his desk, laughed and yelled "we are F-16! Ha Ha!"

I'm sure I messed up someone's cheese tortellini with my face.

The Air Force sure knew how to show their Airmen a good time!

It really has. I remember when I was a kid in the 70s & 80s Center Point was a really nice neighborhood, pretty much what Trussville is now. It started going downhill in the 90s and by the 2000’s it was a shithole. Now it’s even worse. Shootings there happen on a regular basis.

So I'm repelling down Mount Vesuvius when suddenly I slip, and I start to fall. Just falling, I'll never forget the terror. When suddenly I realize "Holy shite, haven't I been smoking Peyote for six straight days, and couldn't some of this maybe be in my head?" And it was. I was totally fine. I've never even been to Mount Vesuvius.

When I was in highschool, one summer we got way in to finding caves to explore. Turns out, if you're not an a-hole, there's actually a network of people who share locations of known caves.

So my brother, me, and a few others are in a cave. And it's a long one. I'm probably exaggerating, but I figure I was at least a mile in, little to no walking upright. Crawling through the whole thing. Like idiots we split up to check out different areas.

So I reach a cavern big enough to sit down and take a break. I look over my shoulder and there's a fricking dog/wolf thing sitting behind me. I lose my shite with nowhere to go.

Turns out it was a funny shaped rock and my mind playing tricks on me. But that was by far the most terrified I've ever been.

Was on the phone with my wife when she had a head on collision. Phone died with the last thing I heard was her scream. Was already in route to meet her when I came up to her mangled car. She ended up being ok with a few bruises and a broken phone. Was sweating bullets the 10 minutes it took me to get to her.

If it is just fear for myself it would be either an incident with a bear while backpacking where the bear came within 20 feet while me and a buddy were hanging the food or hydroplaning into a 180 on I40 in Little Rock at night.

Took a road trip out west on my motorcycle and was tent camping every night. Was camping in Yellowstone that night and thought I saw a bear earlier in the day.

I was traveling alone and camping in a 2 person tent and had a mummy sleeping bag. Dreamed a bear was attacking me while asleep. Legs were trapped because of the sleeping bag and just made it more real. Woke up in a cold sweat and had about torn up my tent.

Didn’t get much sleep the rest of the night. Lol.

ave you ever been in that situation? If so and you weren't terrified then you're probably a bad person.

I was in that situation and did not have time to be scared. Sitting in my chair when my front door busted open. The idiots had the wrong address. I killed one and badly wounded the other.

I was in a vehicle accident in which a woman who failed to yield hit me on the front driver's side which sent me spinning into a telephone pole then a ditch. In those several seconds I saw my life flash in front of me.

Came away from it with a slight concussion and some cuts and bruises. It was probably the hit to the head that made me feel this way, but I remember thinking I was about to die.

Another time. I took some GHB (G). Someone I know made it so I took the same amount I did in the past, but I forgot that he told me he made it a little bit stronger.. I went into a "hole". That was pretty scary.

During this time about 3 years ago I was experiencing a bunch of weird shite. Short term memory blips, bad headaches, strange sensations, tingling and twitching in my lower extremities, feelings of depersonalization, vision abnormalities, and a few other frightening things. I was scared to shite that I had a brain tumor and my doctor feared so too.

Turns out they were all side effects of the medication I switched to. They gradually subsided throughout the year as I transitioned.
