It would be hard to find anyplace that's like that for 100 miles in Louisiana.
However- LA Hwy 15 between Lettsworth & Vidalia gets pretty desolate in a few long stretches. There are definitely dead zones, through there, and almost no people.

There's probably nowhere in the continental US that's 100 miles from the next person

I would think somewhere in the middle of the Mojave desert maybe?

Until I met the ex, I had never even heard of it. I thought she meant Montgomery, AL when she said it. Still about all it has is meth heads, cows, deer and signs that say "No Jake Braking"....did not know that "jake breaking" was either until then.

Lol, a coworker used to always talk about going home to Iowa. I just assumed she meant the state until she told me she went back and forth twice in a day. I asked her if she owned a plane or something

Another good one. Spooky drive along the old river locks.

I've never heard anyone from there pronounce the town the way most people pronounce the state. It's always Iow-AY.

Judging by some of yalls responses, some of you clearly don’t understand the question.

Nothing is isolated and off the grid about these places in South LA. If you can get to BR or Nola from there in 2 hours or less, it’s not isolated.

They don’t understand the question because your question is flawed. There are no places in LA that fit your description of being isolated

Right. The question really isn't applicable to the geography (and general long history of settlement) of the state.

This time of year in parts of the area I mentioned, don't ever have car trouble there on a Tuesday- Unless you have OnStar. It will seem like Mars in a hurry.

West Texas

Some of those areas between Ft Stockton and Sanderson, and further south, nothing but rattlesnakes, mountain lions, tarantulas and CO2 gas wells for 30+ miles with with just a ranch house.

Occasional group of illegals walking through every now and then, or a pumper checking on a well.
