The Mid-South is actually the more Black part of each state (especially for Tennessee).

It's wrestling from the St Bernard Civic Center.
Cowboy Bill Watts and Leroy McGuirk split NWA Tri-State in 1979. Watts gained promoting rights in Louisiana and Mississippi while McGuirk kept Arkansas and Oklahoma. The name Mid-South Wrestling was chosen for Watts new company. I don't recall the phrase "Mid-South" being used anywhere but the wrestling. If anything, the news referred to Shreveport, Texarkana, and everything around it as the "Ark-La-Tex". Mid-South Wrestling was filmed at the Irish McNeil Boys Club in Shreveport in 1985, I don't know if that was the only locale though. Larger non-televised events were held in venues like Hirsch Coliseum.

Texas is also SOUTH of Missouri and situated on the Gulf. So it is part of the south, but not "Deep South".

East Texas is where the "South" begins along the Gulf of America.

I grew up in Missouri, born in the bootheel. Culturally all of these regions are mid-western. People want to call "The South" any state that had legal slavery before the war. If your special occasion restaurant is a Cracker Barrel, you can take a train and go to NYC for the day, or own snow shovels... you ain't in The South. I don't care where the Mason-Dixon line falls.

Mid South from 1979 to 1984 is the greatest wrestling promotion of all time .

Had more talent than WWF back then. Many wrestlers who were big stars got their start in Mid-South wrestling

I'll buy that. The Piney woods and the ag areas that had cotton plantations are truly The South. The rest of Texas is where the west begins; that or it's its own place altogether.

There were dudes who lost loser leaves town matches in mid south. You would see the guy working in Atlanta a week later. So Atlanta is not in the mid south.
