Had a Dell Dimension from maybe 2004 to 2014. Replaced when MS stopped supporting XP. XP was the best.

What is the longest lasting desktop computer you owned?
Got a desktop I built in 2008 for around $1k. Upgraded HDD to solid state a few years ago, upgraded video card to a GTX-1060 a few years before that. Still going strong and still fast enough for the games and apps I use. Had a HDD go out in the first couple years I owned it but no other problems yet
ASUS motherboard
WD HDDs
EVGA video card
Gskill RAM

I had an iMac that ran from 2011 until 2020. Still would be using it, but the video card fried and I couldn’t get it replaced.

I've got a Compaq laptop from 2007 or 2008, it still worked last time I tried. But the real reason I am here is to post the pic below, I actually used one of these at school in the 80's.

Grandparents still have a Gateway 2000 from around 1998 that works great! It’s incredible really.

I know in our office anything that works past the 5 year mark is remarkable. We replace them at five years.

The custom built PC I am writing this post on was originally built in 2012. That said, I did replace the video card and hard drive.

I just built my new gaming PC a few weeks ago. Before that, I was still using the gaming rig that I built in 2011 (i7-2600K). I did upgrades over the years (ssd, memory, graphics cards) and it held up pretty well. So I got 11 years out of it.

I had a 2001 Dell I still used into 2010. It would fire up now. Pentium 3.

1999 Dell laptop, lasted until they stopped updating windows xp. So 2014, 15 years. It still worked at that point though.

Not a desktop but I have a 2010 MacBook that still runs like a champ. However, it now acts only as my plex server. Still has the dvd player in it.
