I didn't get pulled over for it, but I passed a state trooper who was going below the speed limit once (he was going 55 in a 60 mph zone) -- he sped up, rolled down his window and screamed and pointed at me to slow down. I just looked at him and continued on my way doing 60.

I just knew Golden Meadow would be on the first page somewhere. That little shithole of a town is a notorious speed trap, and has been for decades.

I got pulled over for going 40 in a 40. City cop said it was school zone. Sign said 25 when children are present, there were none present. Cop then said it is 25 when the lights are flashing, that's not what the sign said, it said when children are present. Then he said it is really between 8 & 3 and he wasn't arguing with me on the side of the road.

82 in a 75 on I49 in St. Landry Parish. The cop was driving in the opposite direction on the interstate and did a u-turn through the median to come give me a ticket for 7 miles over the speed limit. This was at 9am, the officer told me that they were doing some sort of "program" that weekend where everyone going more than 6 mph was getting a ticket. Luckily it didn't go on my record.

They used to only take cash, and you could cash a check at that grocery store that's in the bend.

Not sure if that's still the case.

6 over in a 65 in southern IL - there were about 15 county sheriffs in the median when you topped a hill and they were writing tickets as fast as they could.

Not even a warning, $150 tickets for doing 71 in a 65 going down hill. I avoid any business in Illinois now. Frick that place...

Were you on I-57 say between Marion IL and Sikeston, MO? Word for many years is that is a pretty big drug running route and thus they use any excuse they can to pull over cars. I haven't been on that stretch of road in a few months, but yeah cops sit right over the crest of a hill.

70 in a 65 on the Causeway.

This was right when the causeway peeps decided if you're going Southbound at night, the speed limit should drop to 55. So, the cop originally wrote me a ticket for going 70 in a 55. But I was going Northbound in broad daylight, so it was definitely a 65mph limit. I flagged him down and pointed it out and he scratches out the 55, fills in 65 and gives it back to me. Yeah. He was a dick.

ETA: Also argued my way out of another ticket when a cop tried to claim that the speed limit was lower than the posted sign said it was. I think I was going 41ish and the limit was 40, but he was saying it's supposed to be a 30 limit. I said "Well the sign says 40, so..." and he says "It's supposed to be changing to 30 soon." I had to use all my willpower not to laugh at him and just say as respectfully as I could, "Well, sir, how am I supposed to know that? All I can do is follow what the current signs say." Then he decides to let me go with a warning and act like he was being nice giving me a break. Sorry you thought you would bullshite your way into a ticket, good luck on the next guy.

I fricking hate driving through IL. Interstates with 65 MPH limits are ridiculous, especially outside any large city limits in rural areas where there's nothing but undeveloped land and farm animals.
