It was a reliable, relatively cheap, and mass-produced tank that played a crucial role in Allied victories.

Revisionist history

High profile made it a sitting duck

Weak gun made it ineffective against German tanks. I think they put a 75 on it in 44' so at least it had a chance to penetrate that Krupp steel.

Define vehicle please. Are you talking land based transport?

B-52. Some may make 100 years in service.

If you’re choosing tanks of WWII, it should be Russia’s T-34

US had crap
UK had better protection but weaker guns
GER had best armor

T - 34 was not the best but cheap to build and could penetrate German armor.

I remember as a kid about a German tank commander commenting on when he knew the war was over. They were advancing with the best stuff but it was expensive and few were built. They were driven back and destroyed when the T - 34's swarmed over them like rats. Germans had quality, Russians had quantity. I think when it came to materials request in WWII, the Russians only wanted our trucks, not our tanks.

T-34 was better than anything the Germans had, at least until the Panther.

Imagine the Russian military knowing about this. And knowing not a damn thing you can do about it.

Submarines.

There are only two kinds of vessels on the seas: submarines and targets, and that includes the US Super Carriers.

You could make a counter argument that it is actually the torpedo, but it is essentially an automated mini-submarine.

The M4 Sherman Tank of World War II.

While it had its weaknesses, particularly in firepower and armor compared to some German tanks,

This really was an issue mostly in 1944-45. When the Sherman was first used in North Africa, it was more than a match for the PzKpfw IIIs and IVs.

But one thing you have to understand about the Sherman is that it was not designed to fight other tanks. It was designed to fight enemy fortifications and support the infantry. At that time, American Armored warfare doctrine was the job of fighting tanks was up to the tank destroyers, both towed and tracked.

The SEE was a useless POS. A JD-410 with a hoe and bucket were 1000 times more useful just more of a PITA to move.

Since a lot of things have been mentioned, I will say the HMMWV has to be up there. I used them on their first ever combat deployment in OJS and then in ODS where I think there were more of them than camels in Iraq. A very versatile machine, and despite its limited armor, it is near perfect for light infantry movement.
