I went on this once when I barely weighed like 80 pounds, and I swear I wasn't even touching the slide on the way down.

You weren't. That slide was terrifying and awesome.

but I don't think I have ever seen the roller coaster operate and the rarely any of the other visible rides.

That roller coaster was really fun. The purple ride behind it that spins around fast and goes upside-down can go frick itself.

Yep.
And the Hot Shot ride was actually one of the funnest rides I've ever been on. You were way the frick up there and it was pretty damned scary. Then, the way it bounced back up and made you feel weightless a few times was a neat touch on the typical "Drop" ride.

Didn’t they have one in the same spot as lafitte’s plunge that someone died on in the 90s?

The yellow board one was my favorite with the enclosed one a close second

Last year someone posted a great Reddit thread about the financial opportunities of buying Blue Bayou, and its potential for substantial profitability. The individual clearly did some research to support his idea which was textbook. Unfortunately, it was apparent he’d never actually been anywhere near Baton Rouge...and made the entire thesis comical.

Yea the Banzai slides were side by side with two humps. Everyone got air on that second hump. It was dangerous as frick. They ended up enclosing the slide over that hump to keep anyone from flying out. I was working the bottom of the Banzai slide Summer of 1991 when a little kid turned over on his stomach before the second hump. He came down crying and grabbing his mouth and I realized his bottom teeth were sticking through his lip. YIKES!

But nobody died on the plunge. Nobody died at Blue Bayou as far as I can recall from 1990-now.
The only death there was Dixie Landin' in 2010 when that big chick fell off the Extreme coaster after pretending her bar thingy was locked down and secure when it wasn't.

It was called the Rampage in the 90s. Flying Pirogues now. Still very fun ride, especially now that you don't have to carry the damned board up the stairs with you.

Part of what made 90s Blue Bayou so magical. It was hard as shite to get that thing up there as a kid.

Huh? It's usually packed during the summer.

You mean when you drive by at 8am and 5pm on weekdays?

I wish Blue Bayou was more like Action Park. Would make things that much more entertaining.

Yep! I worked that slide often in 1991 b/c boys could easily handle the boards from the riders and set them on the conveyor. The 12 yr old boys would be like "I can put my own board on there!". But them things were wide, awkward, and a solid 20lbs.
It was also a great ride to meet gals from all over the area in a time before Social Media.
I was Woodlawn Trash and the EA and St Amant girls were so intriguing to me with their accents and skimpy swimsuits. (there was no Dutchtown yet).
