I quit the first real job I ever had. It was at a fast food joint and I had just turned 16, but hadn't started driving regularly because I didn't have a car. I worked two shifts, and got trained (if you can call it that). I then went on a week long school trip that had me off for 9 days. The first day I got back the managers screwed up the shift and one guy laid out. I reallu had no idea what I was doing, but they gave me the whole back of the restaurant from prep, making food, and dishes. I worked two hours by myself and fricked everything up in the process. I used the phone (my first cell phone was a few months away) and called my Mom. I then went to take the trash out, went out the back door, took off my hat, apron, and gloves (I would have taken my shirt off, but it was cold) threw them in the empty garbage can, got in the car and left.

They didn't know what happened to me. They thought I was in the bathroom for a while. They ended up closing four hours early.

That was the worst run place I've ever seen in all of my working life, and my only fast food job. It would close for good around a year later.

That said, the next weekend I was back working with a family friend on a roofing crew. They paid cash and called me when they needed me.

I walked out at a contract job at the refinery my last summer before graduating. That place is filled with miserable people who will suck your soul.

No idea what you are saying about your face, but par for the course.

I have turned down decent jobs in a few of the big refineries, but I need new things, and I'm not a shop person who just shows up if nothing needs to be done.

Give me work.

Found my place as a consultant.

Was an overnight manager at a 24 hour CVS about 20 years ago. I went in the office about 1am and wrote a long note telling the top manager and others how much a piece of shite they were. Left a closed sign on the door, locked up and walked out of the back door.

when you leave a real job with benefits, make sure you purge the files before shutting the door.

I was 19 and working the summer at a subsidiary of DuPont. I started to make a phone call one morning before work.

Boss decided to call a meeting early. So, I hung up the phone. At 8 (normal start time) he ends his meeting.

I picked up the phone to make my call. I get told, "make that call on your own time, not mine." WTF? You just took 15 minutes of my time for your meeting.

I thought about it for a minute and then walked out. Not sure how long I was gone before that a-hole realized I didn't work there any longer.

I don't consider that a first real job.

In this current reality we are living in, the craziest way someone could quit a job, which would absolutely SHOCK me, is to go in their bosses office, have a conversation about leaving, and giving the boss a two weeks notice.

Left for lunch one and never went back. Boss was throwing me under the bus on his frick up, so I bailed a few hours before a big project was due that I never even started on. My phone was blowing up for 2 or 3 days and never answered.

Good times.

Was working at Home Depot in BR in the paint dept. boss was on the rag that day and kept telling me to down stock which is take the stuff from the top shelves to fill the racks back with the low products… didn’t have a problem doing that but the arse face person who was supposed to be working there didn’t show so I was alone that day so doing the down stocking between customers that needed paint mixed… well manger kept running her mouth so I asked nicely if she would mind watching the paint booth while I down stocked, of course lazy arse said she had things to do and walked away, 3rd time she started running her mouth about it, I grabbed the blue & red concentrated paint, (the stuff used to add color to the paint) put each in a 1 gallon shaker with no top on, (the ones that spun all around) turned both machines on, walked out, right as I got to the door flipped her the middle finger got in my car and rolled out (sadly didn’t get to see all the paint go everywhere but I’m positive it was one hell of a mess)

Was working for an electrician and was paired with the owners dickhead son. He finally pissed me off enough to walk off the job to the Waffle House on College, call a cab back to my truck, and never show up again

I dream of quitting my current job. Ideally they’d be doing their usual shite in a meeting and I’d just say “I quit”

Why?
There is kind of a labor shortage right now and companies are begging for workers.

With that said, the only job I ever quit without notice was when I was 15. The dickhead owner deserved it

We had a warehouse dude walk to the big man's office with a coke in hand. He said " I quit, so I'm pouring this one out for my homies". Dumped the drink on the boss man's floor and walked out.
