Wife is looking at retiring early to watch her grandchild and just trying to get a cost to compare.

Why doesn't your stepdaughter stay home to watch her own baby? Or pay for it herself?

I’m okay with it as long as I can still enjoy life and not just sit at home because all my income is going to pay bills. .

You’re looking at $900 a kid pretty much, per month.

my $.02 but you're wife is setting both of you up to be the full time sitters, nannies, caregivers, etc., using the hell out of you because her daughter wanted a baby, selfish as frick on both of their parts, it's one thing to be there in time of need but another to pass on the responsibility for the daughter's convenience

I hope she’s not staying home to monitor the pool boy.
Do you have a pool?

We pay, after a multitude of fees over the year, around 1050 a month. They do a good job but Christ in a Chicken Basket it's getting expensive. First 2 were 700-800 even with fees. We've applied at our church which is closer to 550 a month but aren't at the front of the line.

Maybe check a church and Mother's Day out type places to give a little break and keep costs down. Glad you're helping out, not all of us have extended family who wants to. Kudos to y'all.

Why can’t your stepdaughter quit and watch her own baby?

Pennies compared to Atlanta. Like literally half.

The prices people are quoting above are what I was paying in ATL area 8 years ago. I can imagine ATL prices (and the price of everything) is much more now. If you can still get those prices in Baton Rouge for a decent place, that's not bad.

The best places in ATL had waiting lists. I don't know how it works in BR, but if you go this route, look for places with waiting lists.

I guess my parents were different because the idea of even asking my mom to do some shite like this would be laughable.

After 18... Your decision. Your problem.

I know things have changed, but I see some many things parents do now that I am just like... Wow.
