Why are you not shopping quotes every 6 months? It's super simple to switch car insurance companies. If you have been with a company for longer than a year I can 100% promise you can lower your rate by shopping around. State farm is notoriously high

Everybody says this but nobody can come close to touching my American national prices (yet). I’d love for this to be true but it has yet to be true for me.

I have State Farm 100/300/100 as well and recently talked to them about lower limits. The next step down is 50/100/50. Savings was less than $100/ 6 months. IMHO the extra $200/year is worth the extra coverage as the cost of everything has skyrocketed. Remember, you don't need insurance until you do and then it's too late to add coverage.

Now if you don't have any tangible assets a lower limit might work but in today's sue happy world 50/100/50 is just enough to get you sued.

Just my $0.02

have collision, health, short and long term disability…..why do I need uninsured motorist?

Because it follows you. Not just the vehicle.

Also, it will always pay IN addition to their level of coverage.

Example: I was flipped a ridiculous number of times by the careless driving of an old lady. Her insurance was insufficient. My first medical bills exceed her policy...and that was before the MRI found the fractured vertebrae. My policy paid in full and then they sued her company. The uninsured motorist policy paid out for ALL medical beyond her policy limits.

Are you a homeowner? If so then you should carry 100/300.

My PI friends tell me this is only pursued with high earning individuals. Boosie could probably give more insight.

True to a point, but typically they're talking about someone that doesn't have a pot to piss in. Decent Home equity, nice high-paying job etc., Why in the heck put all that at risk to save a few hundred bucks a year?

And an Umbrella policy is a good idea too.

Those crooks aren’t getting one more cent of my money.

Good luck replacing your ride for $25k (TX minimum.) I do enjoy the thrill of commuting to the office to be ultra productive while dodging cars with no lights on, it'd be even more exciting to end up in a used Altima after a wreck with that kind of payout.

Right on point. Limits should be based on your earnings and assets. They will come at you personally now. Used to be the lawyers didn’t. Now they do.

I haven’t been in a wreck in 30 years. I drive defensively. I’ve paid the minimum to be legal for the past 20 years and have been fine.

I’m sick and f’ing tired of insurance companies sending rediculous bills out. If they’re trying to play off my fear…sorry, but I ain’t the one.

I need to shop but it is a pain because it is never apples to apples in regards to coverage. Anyone have a company to go with to shop it around and find me a better deal?

Shopping around is not easy because the home policy is bundled for discount. Now the apples to apples comes into play across two policies. I’ve run into issues switching homeowners because roof is over 7 years old. It is NOT easy switching; but it CAN be worth it.

Yep. Try explaining to your client why they should take chump change settlement when they may be able to go after much, much more. You think they give a shite about the future effects on the person that was at fault and seriously injured them?

ive been an insurance agent in south louisiana for just over 17 years. i have never had a customer get hit with any kind of judgement over whatever their policy limits are. the lawyers seem to only ask for policy limits. this in no way means that can't happen, i just think it doesn't happen as much as most people think.

i'm not giving advice, i'm only talking about my experience in the industry.

Shop insurance no more than every 3 years.
I am loving 50% savings ‘25 over ‘24.

Let myself fall off from my rule and overpaid a few years. Back on the savings saddle.

the only thing i'll add is you don't want a claimant and or claimant attorney to easily find out you're a doctor or some shite and you're running around with 25/50 limits.
