I don't get the point of shaming or attacking people who don't want to do it for whatever reason. We should celebrate and respect that flag because we don't have to do it. That is why I respect our flag. There is a lot of places in the world where it is required and in some not doing so is hazardous to your health.
When you attack or shame people for not standing, you are being more unamerican than they could ever be for their decision to protest the country for whatever reason.

There is a vocal group on both sides who gets mad over the anthem. The rest of us don't give a frick what anyone does. Freedom is wild like that.

agree with this, we've got an overabundance of super patriots post 9/11, that more than likely have not strayed too far from their couch or beer cooler during this whole time, I think the "outrage" comes from a combination of the everything white is evil and racist crap being shoved down everyone's throats and that the "kneelers," for the most part seem to be wealthy, privileged black people that are just using the anthem as a "look at me" photo op, could be wrong, just my thoughts

I don’t think it has anything to do with being a super patriot, just common courtesy and respect.
I could try to carry on a loud conversation in a room where someone is praying because I’m not religious, but I choose not to out of respect. I go ahead and present socially normal behavior.

I served and really don't care what you do. Stand, kneel, sit, jerk off, etc. It's your right as an American to do so. From my experience, the people who overly care about this never served themselves. Usually they hide behind somebody in their family serving.

I get it for the Pledge of Allegiance, but for America the Beautiful and the Star Spangled Banner? The Pledge, stand and put your hand over heart, frick yea...the Star Spangled is our national anthem, but hand over heart? America the Beautiful is just a patriotic song.

It’s such a god damn nonissue. Whether someone stands for the flag or not is none of my business. People have the right to do whatever they want so long as it does not harm anyone else during the national anthem.
I know I usually only stand when I attend games since I believe it is a way to respect our great country. I’ll never do it while watching a big game on TV and I highly doubt the people criticizing the kneelers/sitters from their couch do so either.
It pains me as someone who’s always been more right-leaning that this side got so butthurt over the issue and allowed dbags like Kaepernick an avenue to line their pockets.

It’s fine that you feel this way and certainly people can do what they want, but don’t be surprised when it becomes normalized to sit.
Eventually no one will stand.

I can't recall a single time I've been somewhere watching a game on TV and anyone stood for the national anthem. Is that really a thing?

And I do, not because of some obligation or because of people that died for it, but because of what I believe it means and the foundation laid by the creators of the country. That flag is more than just military. It’s all of us and arguing about it disrespecting fallen soldiers is asinine.

It’s not a social norm to stand if you’re watching a broadcast of the event.
