I was in my 50's when I found out that automobile gas gauges have a little arrow that show which side of the car has the gas cap. Before that when I rented a car I just guessed.

I learned later in life that all shoes have removable insoles that can be replaced. I thought it was all part of the shoe.

Do you know that the arrow under the Amazon logo represents "From A to Z"? As in, they sell everything from A to Z.

If I had to put it less direct, I would say that people, as a whole, are irrational. And that most people do not gather the proper knowledge to form an accurate view or opinion on most things. And for whatever reason, there are too many people who would rather sink with the ship than admit they are wrong.
