Small single engine plane with retractable gear. We had we a hydraulic failure just before takeoff which sprayed hydraulic oil on the exhaust manifold. We thought is was an inflight fire. Flew direct to the nearest airport and came in on approach. However, due to no hydraulic pressure, the landing gear would not cycle. Belly landed without the gear. Slid along way down the runway and then off into a big grass runoff area. Destroyed belly of the plane and the prop. It wasn't scary until the next time we flew into the same airport and PTSD kicked in.

When you think about all the hundreds or even thousands of marriages, sexual liaisons (however you want to figure it) that had to happen in the correct sequence, in the correct generation, in the correct location to lead to your existence as a living human being at this very moment on the face of the earth, how is it that no one has stopped for a moment to say, "Holy shite! The very fact that I was born is an incredible event despite the odds being incredibly low!" ?
Think on that for a few moments. You're here now. All of us are. It's a fact. But the fact that we are here doesn't negate the fact that the odds of this happening exactly like this were extremely low.
(Also. I am NOT high as a kite and having weird, pot head thoughts fill my mind. I am fully capable of being weird as hell without chemical assistance.)

I hit one in air while flying with a .22. We were out shooting toads and I had told my kids “never do this” and took the shot.
Unfortunately, they were like 8 and 6 so nobody believed them.

I’m married to my wife because my dad randomly asked me if I wanted to go to the grocery store with him and I randomly said yes. She and I were acquaintances but didn’t know each other very well. I saw her in the store and we talked for a bit. I couldn’t find my dad and turns out he went to the car. I asked him why he ditched me and he said “I didn’t want to interrupt your courting” . Ol dad knew before I did. Then when I got home i looked her number up in the phone book. Just guessed at which one it was and I nailed it first try. We went out the next night and got married 2 years later. It was 1994 when I saw her in Delchamps. God works in mysterious ways. She’s much more than I deserve.

No me but a girl I dated of and on in my early 20’s, her car got struck by lightning and got fried.
Not long after, the car that she replaced it with got hit by lightning, fried it also.
We weren’t dating when the second car got hit but I heard about it.

I went to a harness horse racing track for the first time and picked the winner 9 out of 11 races. I was placing bets just before each race, and near the end, everyone around me was asking which horse I liked for each race.
I never went back to a track again, because I knew I'd never be able to replicate that event.

I got kicked in the face by a horse with the same name. Those odds have to be astronomical

Went to my first cubs game a few summers ago and brought home a baseball I snagged that coaches were tossing in to the stands after warmups.
Guy sitting next to me said he has been going to games for 12 years and never got a baseball

Didn't happen to me, but I recently listened to a story where a guy who was trail running and got attacked, gored, and launched by a bison. It roughed him up, but not terribly bad considering, broke some ribs and needed stitches. It was worse for him mentally. He refused for the longest to go back to that trail. Some time later he met a girl on a dating site and they started hanging out. On one of their first dates she convinced him to go back to that trail to watch the sunset. She went ahead while he did something I can't remember. A few minutes later a group of Boy Scouts came running down the trail looking for help.
She had gotten to the same bend of the same trail that the guy had been on when the bison got him where a bison also attacked, gored, and launched her. She recovered, but the relationship didn't last. He never went back to that trail.
Damn nature, you scary. As far as OP, if my dad hadn't wrecked his truck the day before he was set to move down to Baton Rouge and start pre-law at LSU, I would've never been born. My grandpa refused to buy him a new truck, he stays around here, meets my mom and marries her a few years later, and here I am.

My father shooting and killing someone in front of a news camera and getting 5 years probation and 300 hours of Community service.
The Judge should have given him 350 hours of Community service obviously.
