Sorry, I did not finish the quote. I thought everyone was familiar with him being "From" Crowley and still living there.
"Casanova was born in New Orleans on July 29, 1950. While his father, Dr. Thomas H. Casanova Jr. served in the Korean War, Casanova's mother raised her children in New Orleans and Opelousas. When his father returned from Korea, the family moved to Crowley, Louisiana. Casanova graduated in 1968 from the Roman Catholic Notre Dame High School in Crowley, the seat of Acadia Parish."

I graduated OHS in 2007, then T.H. Harris in May 2009. Was out of Opelousas and living in BR by August 09.
Opelousas is a total shithole and I really don't like going back there. My grandparents are the sole reason I go there anymore.
Most of my classmates have moved away as well. It's just a nowhere town.

Washington or Nuba.
Eta: Opelousas is home for me. I love it. Most people see the bad but I see the good. Plenty of it.

Love me some old LISA nostalgia. Remember couple of guys from Silliman...Troy Towns and Kenny Edenfield....couple of ball players back then (mid 80s).
Yeah Troy and Kenny were about 5 or 6 years older than me, but I remember them well.
Kenny is actually Offensive Coordinator at Troy Univ now. His son plays Receiver under him at Troy.
LISA...I was so sad when it folded and we had to join the MPSA. I hated travelling all over po-dunk Mississippi during HS!

I am indebted to the OT Board. I'm in Opelousas on business and after reading this thread, went to Joe's Sandwich Shop for lunch.
Best place to eat in Opelousas like I said on the first page. For lunch today I went to Floyds which is not far from Joe's. Their chili dogs and red beans are awesome.

Thirteen pages on the Big O!
OPL seems to have more to recommend it than you thought, OP.

I knew that his cousin Bobby was from that area, he's also an ophthalmologist. I always thought the family was originally from Crowley.
Old Dr. Tom Casanova was my doctor when I was a kid. I believe he was one of the first EENT's in SW LA back in the 60's. There were almost no specialists to speak of here, so Mom brought me to Crowley, over 35 miles away. He found out that not only did I need glasses but I needed to have my tonsils taken out.
I can still remember seeing him in the OR when they were getting ready to give me the gas.
