This thread made it a lot longer than I thought it would.

Don't forget about Paul Prudhomme.

Silliman was good in everything. Those were some hard fought games.
We didn't have anything else to do in Clinton LA!

He had some connection to Opelousas though because my dad knew him growing up and used to play pick up games of football and baseball with him in both Crowley and Opelousas.

Right about that. I remember Central Private had a pitcher in the late 80's and early 90's who threw in the 90's. And he was kind of wild. I had never heard a baseball make that kind of noise standing in the batters box.

Our coach shattered a windshield driving into the Silliman campus. I think he hit an awning or something. We gave him hell for a long time for that.

I am indebted to the OT Board. I'm in Opelousas on business and after reading this thread, went to Joe's Sandwich Shop for lunch.
Today's plate lunch was pork roast served over rice with black eyed peas and cornbread. IT WAS DELICIOUS!
Future trips to Opelousas will include a return to Joe's for the hamburger and visits to the Palace Cafe and the Pizza Shack.

On the way to ABW or Belmont, Our Coach (who was also the Principal) at Silliman drove the front tire of the bus up on the curb hitting the rail of the old MISS RIVER Bridge. Talk about scare the shite out of everyone. I think a few kids shite their pants.
He never lived that one down! No one wanted to ride with that SOB on a bus again.

I remember when the ABW basketball coach backed their bus into the school at Siliman. We were on our bus just watching and waiting for the boom.

Get the Shack Special. Best pizza in the state. Yeah, I said it.

Love me some old LISA nostalgia. Remember couple of guys from Silliman...Troy Towns and Kenny Edenfield....couple of ball players back then (mid 80s).

Don't forget about the LISA overlords from Trinity Heights.

yeah they were like the Evangel of LISA....well them and Riverside. Could never beat either of them!

The only thing we beat them in was girls basketball. Then again, we smashed everyone in girls basketball for a few years.

Loved going to Trinity Heights for the tournament around Thanksgiving. Those were the days!
