I liked Victoria and San Angelo. Work assignments for 3 months each. I did enjoy Kerrville as well.

Weslaco was a weird assignment and I made friends with a Mexican couple but wouldn't recommend it.

It’s really not. Boston is a very catholic town as far as Christianity split goes, and it’s quite possibly the most liberal city in the most liberal state in the country

US Catholics are not inherently socially conservative outside of the south.
