What if you had your choice of COVID-19 vaccine?

What if you had your choice of COVID-19 vaccine? Differences are small, but they do exist
If you get the choice, which COVID-19 vaccine should you choose?
For now, experts are clear: The best vaccine is the one about to go into your arm. But as the vaccine supply grows, Americans eventually might find someone asking, “Which vaccine do you want?”
The answer for most people will still be “Whatever’s available.”But there are differences that could play a role, though doctors are unanimous that all three currently authorized vaccines work extremely well to protect against severe disease, hospitalization and death.
A shot now is better than waiting for a different shot, said Dr. Kathryn Edwards, scientific director of the Vaccine Research Program at Vanderbilt University’s School of Medicine. It likely benefits the individual and society alike by lowering the overall spread of the disease.
Beyond that, there are small trade-offs when it comes to the current vaccines. In general, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines require two doses and are somewhat more effective. Johnson & Johnson requires one dose and is somewhat less likely to cause side effects.
J&J's “one and done” aspect is a selling point for many.

J&J wins the convenience battle by being a single shot. J&J seems to have mass appeal in countries where supply chains can't support a frozen or refrigerated distribution network.
Moderna and Pfizer are more effective (significantly more effective than the average flu shot), but requires a booster second shot. They are harder to transport though.
Which one would you get if you had the choice? So far about 350 million people worldwide have gotten one of the 3 above vaccines. More than 100 million of those are in the US.

I got Pfizer and glad I was able to get that one, more effective and works against the variants.
J&J is going to need a booster, it is not that effective against the variants like the British one.

Got Pfizer #1 last week. #2 on March 31.
Still alive, feeling great and no new arms and legs growing.

Moderna for this cowboy. Because that’s what Walgreens had when they called me for the cancellation appointment.
Sam’s Club in DS had the Johnson & Johnson one available for walkins on Sunday.
Buddy of mine drove to Lafayette (from BR) for the Pfizer one.

I got the Pfizer shot. Zero side effects for me, but I know a lot of people that complained about 24 hours of flu like symptoms - especially after the second one.

The two people that I know that’s taken the Pfizer shot became really ill after the 2nd dose. Only way I’m taking either, if it’s required for travel.

I will never take a vaccine that was developed using that dirty arse metric system. Disgusting and likely dangerous.

Got Pfizer and only problem was a sore arm for a couple of hours although the second one lasted a bit longer

Nice knowing ya.

IDK how to say this politely, but you're not really worth microchipping anyway.

I chose J&J because I am more comfortable with the older, proven technology used in developing it.

My choice is no vaccine. I already had COVID last June.

I did have a choice and chose Pfizer. Second dose on 04/02.

I got the J&J last Thursday. I forgot to update my thread. It rocked my shite.
Shot at 11:30 am
6 pm I became red faced and feverish
6:30-10:30 pm Dizzy, disoriented and confused. (Delayed response to questions, I couldn't focus my mind)
10:30 pm until 4:30 am Tossed and turned with chills kicking the blankets on and off. No sleep.
4:30-7:30 am Sleep
7:30 am-all day Friday I was exhausted. I felt wobbly like jello. Kind of hungover...
Saturday I was back to 75% Normal
Sunday 95% Normal
Monday Normal.
I'm not knocking it. I would do it again for the protection it provides, but the side effects paired with anxiety of whether that was normal was tough. I didn't want to freak out the first night and go to the hospital for no reason. It eventually wore off...
