You know you may be on to something. Maybe we could have some 1st world country like, say, England come in and set up some trade routes and colonies. We can slowly start teaching Christianity and enforce civil laws. Then when the locals are ready, we can usurp the culture and voila, United States of Africa.

That region for the most part has been on a steady decline since the end of colonialism. The areas could never sort this out on their own and there is no way they would accept outside influence.

The former French speaking colonies have a common currency (Francs CFA) and a trade agreement (CEMAC). Even CEMAC doesn't work very well.

You realize that only worked in the US because we were basically all English. Yes, it was 13 separate colonies, but overall the culture was pretty much the same. Outside of a few things to work out in the Continental Congresses, it wasn't that hard.

Compare that to Africans who likely don't even realize that there are other countries that exist outside of theirs, much less have a concept to joint together for a common cause.

Welll...gotta get that literacy rate up first. Dictatorial powers won’t do that.
