For sure. Esp lawn equipment. We have all the gas stuff, from riding mowers and trimmers to chainsaws.
But I’ve been adding in 80V equipment and it’s all awesome. Tiller, edger, trimmer, blower, self-propelled push mower, and about to get a chainsaw because it isn’t a whole lot more on sale than adding two new mower batteries w dual charger. cc equivalent to my big gas saw.
Cuts down on the gas-huffing sessions when you walk in the barn. You decide whether that’s a positive or negative. I’m on the fence. :sniff:

Post tensioned concrete slabs… the better quality has been a result of guys figuring out things in the field… not the engineers in the lab and at the drafting computer .. brick masonry and roofing has advanced too

Being able to pay your bill from your table without having the staff run off with your card should make everyone feel better and the process is so much faster.

High speed internet - it's available damn near anywhere and it's far more reliable than ever.
Casual dining like Chilis and Olive Garden have somehow saved themselves from the abyss. Impressive turnaround with prices not much higher than fast food - and 10 years ago I thought they were going to slowly disappear.
Battery powered tools, such as chordless drills, impacts, string trimmers, chain saws, etc. And you can easily get dozens of tools that use the same battery type.
Television/monitors are cheaper and better than ever
Some controversial ones:
Healthcare - while we've made huge blunders and drove a wedge between patients and doctors.....we are also always redefining what is survivable from a terminal illness standpoint. High quality imaging and accurate patient records are easier to get than ever, and that improves outcomes.
Cars - we no longer have as many Kia Sophias, Dodge Journeys, Ford Focuses, Mitsubishi Mirages, Suzuki Swifts, and Chevrolet Cobalts clogging our roads and service bays. Can't say the same for the ever more complex higher end vehicles....but the lower end cars are much better on average simply because manufacturers decided they'd rather not sell anything at all in that segment than putting out something that legitimately sucks. We still have some crappy vehicles out there, but the overall fleet is better.
Now our domestic airlines, almost any pickup truck, and furniture are all areas where we've gotten so much worse. Most consumer products are worse.

GPUs. Just look at how much faster and better almost all tech related stuff operates now. Take car infotainment systems for example.

I mean I feel like most things have improved. The real problem is the price increases that have come with the improvements.

A large reason that they are cheaper is because they are harvesting your data and selling it to whoever wants it. There was an article a few years back about how Vizio makes more money selling your data than actually selling tv sets. Crazy.

quote:I think the content for television has also increased in quality. Streaming and the associated budgets has allowed for much higher quality television movies and series, with movie level production values. There's still a lot of crap out there, but consumers have more choice and are able to be far more selective than they were ten, twenty, fifty years ago.

Craftsman tools. Maybe not better than 40 years ago but better than 10. Since Stanley bought them they’ve seemed to greatly expand to their offering and don’t break the bank. Their hand tools I’ve bought recently also have brought back the lifetime warranty with no receipt required which is awesome.
All of their stuff I’ve bought has been pretty solid and is still chugging several years later which is fine for this homeowner. I’ve been very pleased with their resurgence. And they are making a good amount of stuff in the USA.

Ice cream scoops. Seriously...
**I do not eat ice cream, but my son goes through a surprisingly large amount of the stuff each week.
