Last December, Louisiana National Guard Capitan Richard Suarez punched an elderly man in a Mandeville parking lot rightfully causing outrage on TD (54 Page Thread) and elsewhere.

Two weeks later, NOLA dot com ran a puff piece that said it was PTSD.

He was booked into St. Tammany jail and charged with Battery but I couldn’t find any updates here or elsewhere.

Can someone please tell me that this Jackass faced some actual legal consequences?

You don’t have anything better to worry about than a road/roid rage incident from a year ago?

Your statement could be said about every thread on this Message Board.

We vote for Judges and District Attorneys in Louisiana and I want to make sure they are holding criminals, like Suarez, accountable.

It went from a national story filled with one-sided outrage to zero follow-up by the local media.

I googled to find updates to no avail. Maybe someone else comes across something noteworthy.

There are articles from December 13, 2021, that says a $1 Million Bond was set by an unnamed Mandeville Judge.

However, there are other articles from December 14, 2021, that say $250,000 Bond.

Finally, this quote kind of irks me in hindsight:

“This generated a lot of social media and people want an immediate resolution, but they need to be assured that police will take care of it and let this play out,” Chief Todd Schliem said.

How did it play out?

He’s a piece of shite. Claiming PTSD. He never saw combat. Yes, he was deployed, but he was an office guy. Never fired a shot. fricking pussy. I have zero respect for people who claim PTSD for ulterior motives.

I probably should have kept it longer

How do you think it went down with a military court? I recall you saying regardless of what happened in civilian court, he'd be held accountable as an officer (paraphrasing)
